The problem with the hunger rate is one of the main and I guess important things of the game. Only if all are working together a prosper community can arise. Changing the hunger rate is like cheating and my expierence with cheating is that after a while you have no fun with playing the game anymore. ... I also have a little private server to try out the game in its original form and after you have clothes it´s fun playing it with the original hunger rate.

It's all a matter of preference. I actually like to play with moderated hunger, because it is less stressing. I like to take my time to learn or build stuff, without having to worry about eating constantly.
I've added your server to "THE LIST OF PRIVATE SERVERS". See forum topic: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=689
Hello, I am Fox. I heard about this game from a YouTube video. Lived a couple lives and decided I wanted my own server. This is what I came up with.
settings/customServerAddress.ini to contain: our-one-life.com
our-one-life.com
settings/useCustomServer.ini to contain: 1
1
Right now the only modification is that food depletion is 1/3 of the original. Future improvement will be implementing a password, griefer defence research, longer life span. I would also like to moderate this server. I am looking for volunteer moderators. I anyone who is considered would have to have support from the community. All in all I want to build this server up with dedicated people who respect the game and want the community to prosper.
As of right now the server is open to anyone who wishes to join. Based on the behavior of those who are on will decide on how soon I set a password. Come play and lets all have fun.
I live in europe and got frustrated by the lag of the game, so instead of complaining I though just to start my own server. So here we go
Server Version: 67
Max Players: 40
No mods
Game key required (you must have baught the game to play on this server)
Using the server:
Set settings/customServerAddress.ini to:
onehour.world
Set settings/useCustomServer.ini to:
1
Let me know how it works out for you
When you die on top of soil (planted or not) your bones and everything that you carry will vanish. So it's not really a good idea to tend to farming when you're in your last years.
I clothed a baby with a container and all, picked him up to feed him. He disconnected (either by accident or just quit the game) and all the items vanished, because I was carrying him. So now I am thinking that it might not be such a good idea to cloth babies immediately.
Thanks again for the input! Updated.
@Sammoh(Babsy)
I've seen you use both our names like that before. Sammoh and I are two different persons.
You have access to at least two servers now with anti-griefing measures in place and violence completely disabled. I plan on adding a third with heavier modifications to address my own gripes with the game. It would be more constructive for you to contribute ideas and time to such efforts than complain.
@sammoh
Which two are these?
Added your server to the Private Server list. See forum topic: https://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=689
drachetanzer wrote:Oh my gosh, I was your daughter Babsy! I have some bad news though...I didn't make it. I also got killed by the bear. I was actually hoping that you and my daughter had survived. I wonder if our progeny survived though since you didn't find the equipment where we died. That was a fun adventure even though we didn't find the gold in time.
As an additional note - I absolutely love this server. I just started playing on it today, and the extra time for not going hungry as quickly and good people make it a lot of fun!
Granddaughter here! I survived. I was a bit behind you guys. Since both of you disappeared and the bear ran straight at me, I had to assume that it killed you both. I took our supplies and went to settle a new place. I did not have a home marker in our old one. I found an abandoned base and settled it.
It was a great little adventure, I was really stoked for the gold expedition! I was sad that it came to such an abrupt end, but that's life.
Nice to hear from you both Happy one of you came out alive!
We left in a hurry because I was getting old. My poor granddaughter half clothed and no home marker... Yet managed to save all the equipement and start a new settlement. I am proud of her!
Today my daughter and granddaughter went to hunt for gold on the Norgg server!
We planted our home marker in the most southern settlement along the road (which connects several settlements).

On the road to "El Dorado"! Full of good hope. Little did we know there was danger ahead! I was killed by a bear that suddenly ran into us. I feared for the lives of my family. I felt responsible for the equipment, so I started searching for it in my next life.

Found "my" old settlement. Spend several lives there.

Found another base more to the north. Feels familiar.

Luckily my family didn't die and they seemed to have taken all my stuff.

Yeah! Gold! Too bad I don't have a pick with me

Today my daughter and granddaughter went to hunt for gold! I've read this forum post, but I didn't see any crowns. I wonder if this is "The Big City". It has several settlements connected by a road.

Guess not...
Sorry I don't like it. It's confusing to me
@Norgg
I've been playing several times now on your server and I'm falling in love with it! Right on time, because I started to wonder if this game is for me. The hunger rate on the official servers is killing my fun.
Several times I spawned near / at a small settlement, where someone build a wall, above the smithy. I learned to make iron ingots and a steel ax
My last two lives I guess I was at the centre of civilization. Several bases connected by a road. I got three children. Clothing was scarce so I spend my life trapping rabbits and making some clothing.
I've found several clothing items away from the road. I guess from people who took them of while they were dying. I have placed them on the road so new people may find them more easily.
Definitely gonna keep playing on your server
Interesting read. I didn't know the map was setup in this way.
Sounds great. Maybe contact one of the private server hosts to see if they like to test it out
Hi Harry,
The problem is, like you say yourself in the video, one minute is one year. So all your suggestions like "day & night" and "seasons" make no sense at all. Besides for new settlers it is already very hard to get a farm going in their first life, so I don't see a reason to make that even harder. However these ideas could be fun in a custom server, but the hunger meter would have to be tweaked to deal with more extreme situations.
I am not sure about naming people, although it might be helpful to keep them apart. Your suggestion for more different people types, like ginger heads etc. could be a good alternative in my opinion.
Jason is going to add new items, I think he said like 100 per week, so he will probably also going to include other forms of transport.
Disasters. I am not a fan of those! Although it might help later on, to keep the game exiting.
Rabbit Carrot Pie is recommended because berries are used to make compost (needed to keep the farms running).
Announcing the launch of my custom server! All players welcome, no moderation! To use, go to settings directory in the main game directory, and change the text inside customServerAddress.ini to www.onehourone.life and change useCustomServer.ini from 0 to 1. Game settings default except "allowMapRequests" turned on (if that does anything).
Server limited to 60 players, but I'm guessing there won't be too many people on.
Btw, if you spawn as an Eve, and die of old age, and then are reborn as an Eve (you're the only player on), you will spawn back at your camp.
Edit: Since I will be piping server console output to the web (so players can find their location), if you don't want to reveal your email please use a fake email for server login.
Current Server Version: (latest) v63
@zenchess
Is your server still up?
Hey,
With some help from Norgg, Chard, and Rosden I got a modded server running with an age cap of 120. It's a good place to learn crafting since you live so long, and I'm hoping that people will build villages here for us to map. Violence against other humans is disabled.
Current world map: http://www.dying.world:8000/map/map.html
You have more time to finish projects, perfect your farm, or train an apprentice. Please follow the tenets that our prophet Colin set down - only pick fruiting milkweed, only hunt family animals, and don't drain ponds. Returning tools and clothes is important. Preserving useful trees is imperative. We are a community, so respect other's homes and clean up after yourself in shared spaces.
Please PM me on discord with questions. You can join this server by navigating to your "settings" folder and changing "UseCustomServer" to "1", and changing "CustomServerAddress" to "www.dying.world".
There is a password enabled. If you can cite me the laws, and pledge that you will not be a dick, PM me on discord.
Hope to see you around,
sammoh
I've set up a server on new.norgg.org with the hunger rate set to about half the default for people wanting to learn the game in a less hectic setting, or just play in a more relaxed way.
I enjoy how the core game is balanced myself and find a lot of enjoyment comes from the frantic struggle to survive while also desperately trying to teach others how to, but I also know that's not for everyone and think it's worth providing a less punishing option for those that want it.
To join, you'll want to edit:
settings/customServerAddress.ini to contain: new.norgg.org
settings/useCustomServer.ini to contain: 1There's not really much I can use to prevent griefers in the game so far, but can people try to keep this server newbie friendly? If it becomes too much of a mess of griefers/etc I'll have a look at what can be put in place for doing some moderation.
A LIST OF PRIVATE SERVERS (SIGN UP YOUR SERVER HERE)
I wish to create a list of all private servers that are open for new people, either with or without password. Those with password might have certain conditions to join.
Please sign up your private server here in a comment, so I can add it to the list. I think by having them all listed together, it will be easier to find them and get traffic to your server, if this is what you want. Pm me or leave a comment in case you want your server to be removed from this list.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHEN SERVERS WENT DOWN. THANK YOU!

Can anyone help by putting these professions (jobs) in some kind of logical order, meaning in which order the need will arise for a certain job when you start building a community from scratch? I don't have enough experience yet to oversee the whole.
