a multiplayer game of parenting and civilization building

Yeah this has been suggested since yum was released
The other thing that should be pointed out here is that, during the first month of the game, before the Eve spreading stuff was added, the death of a family didn't matter at all, because it didn't result in towns being lost. There was a map of the whole civilized world. You could always find your way back. Remember checkered floor roads?

I think the game is much better now than it was back then, because there is something on the line. We can screw this up, folks, and all this will be lost. And this does lead to more interesting stories. As the last elders dies out in a childless village, there's a real feeling there.... a real sense of despair.
So, more interesting, dramatic stories in individual towns, but less interesting, long-term stories between neighboring towns.
This was only a problem when nothing ran out if things become scarce the central area will be forced to spread far and wide to keep feeding its population outlying villages will ither be traded with or destroyed. Eventually horses, cars, and planes will be necessary just to bring in supplies. Leading up to a final death of the area where there are two choices survive by leaving the land you have raped of its resources, or trigger the apocalypse in order to try again.
What if as a crazy experiment you made eves always spawn at 0,0 and they have to venture off from there to make their own town
I can guarantee juicy drama
If you remember almost a year ago when players made maps of different towns and there were several walled cities connected by roads there was a primative "trade", and wars between towns.
Several times i traded alum for pie or furs. Or a tool for a load of food. Or a cart full of pies for a female child.
Also we had caught theves and lead raiding partys to kill other towns.
It was a fun dynamic. It was easy when spawned as an eve to find your way to a town. This was before naming or cursing or the apocalypse or decay. Heck soil even lasted forever. Im not saying it would be better if it was like that again, but i am saying we are too far spread out still.
Theres a good quality to that but it feels like im born in a different world every life.
Even with huge roads going in every direction from a big town they all lead to nothing. Its very rare that 2 developed towns are withen walking distance from one another.
We cannot interact with each other unless we are closer.
Is being on discord worth it?
Yes 100%
What i wonder is how these people think its a good idea to grief and be public about it... have some shame. Being a jerk isnt something to be proud of
Dang thats one toxic reddit
You were twins born to me far from home i dont know why i kept you.
Good lives are few and far between.
Im sorry i didnt catch both of your names.
You were good daughters
You made the rest of my hour worth living.
So few people play this game as its ment to be played.
As a family.
Thankyou.

The only thing i would change about medicine is portable pads. Mabey a small vessel to carry one pad in.
But i agree with pein. I have seen many times the griefer get healed and the person that stabbed them is killed because people jump to conclusions. There was a guy i saw last night hiding carts of pies behind trees when he was stabbed he was healed and we lost a good smith to an arrow wound.
I'm a big fan of trying to follow my mom's job. That's how societies organized themselves back in the day.
This is a good idea but alot of times im told to find something else to do. But its always easy to find something to do
Lol well said whatever
And welcome datruf!
Yes please. People who only cause trouble dont deserve our attention negative or otherwise
Getting lost is the biggest mistake i make. Go out for iron find a whole cart full never make it home
murdering griefers leads to big mistakes being made as well there was a young girl wasting all the villages berrys and pies by force feeding everyone constantly i was just a baby watching it happen and my mom was asking her to stop. She said ok many times and by the time i grew hair my mom stabbed her and was quickly shot with a bow. The griefer was healed and my mother (a capable sheep tender) was dead. I went on to keep sheep in her place and the griefer learned to use a bow and murdered a few before i died.
Dead penguin hat
Fire wood runner is a full time job in big towns. A man with axe and a cart going far away for firewood is a great resource. Sometimes if you have a backpack you can pick up rares while on a wood run (iron cinnabar discarded tools extra plates ect)
Explorer is also a good role a cart full of onions burdock cactus fruit or bananas cand do wonders for yum very quickly and easily as these foods are very rare in older citys but often just a short walk away. An experienced smith, baker, machinest, sheep hearder will really appreciate an additional +3 even if newer players gobble some of it up.
Spreading pies around town is useful too along with bringing back plates. A basket of pies by the berrys keeps the berry munchers away. A basket of pies by the forge keeps the smithy working hard some bread in the nursery keeps mothers well fed. And if you also gather plates you keep the baker busy.
Hunter is a common role but misunderstood your focus (once sheep are established) is rabbits, seals and wolves. The warm clothing is better than a warm carpet or the fleeting joy of a turkey hat. Killing boars and bears is worthless unless you need to get rid of them for safety reasons.
Lol badass you always come up with new ways to surpise and amaze me pein!
We really need to be able to murder penguins and make hats out of them
I think jason's point is do what you want with his stuff. Just dont tell people his stuff is yours. Its a pretty simple concept. Im failing to see where all the confusion is coming from here
I know im not that active anymore, but ive seen alot of you aurora. Your a very opinionated young woman, who takes everything to extremes. Sometimes its a good idea to take a deep breath and reflect on how others perceive you.
There is definitely a time and place for the characters you like to play, but sometimes you have to have a conversation in lowercase letters.
Also when you dont agree with something sometimes its better to not fight to the death over it. All it does is make enemies.
Bonsai was my favorite update by far but i was dissapointed by only being able to make it from one tree. Pretty please jason more bonsai!
if they know its me, they would probably curse me for it
i got quite a lot of friends too and im on edge of both scales
that still wont mean that im particularly did anything on that lifei did some low key griefing the other day, cause i was killed there for no reason before, so i just messed things up while doing some cover actions
got 0 curses and ruined the whole city over and over
i got killed finally but not for griefing, for naming babies dumb names
Anyone who knows you knows when you are in their ohol family.
Your a love it or hate it personality personally i really admire your efficiency. Stay out of peins way and the family will make major strides. Get in his way and everyone will die and you wont even know what happened.
<3 you pein
If you keep your head down and look busy noone pays you any mind.
I have a potato laptop from 2008 that runs this game perfectly fine!
The first load is long (sometimes im a dead baby by the time it loads), but the second, third, fourth and so on lives load quickly (10-30 seconds) and are relitivly lag free. Anyone griping about long load times or severe lag are having other issues than the game
Also keep in mind this is a one man show. The quality of the game as it sits is impressive for one man. And jason is still busting his butt daily for it.
I'd say don't worry about trying to figure out the mom's intentions, just treat it like a normal /die and reset the birth timer.
/die babies shouldn't count.
I agree with this
Jason has always offered upset and dissatisfied coustomers a discount when they complain. I think its a commendable action.
To me it shows he has pride in this (lets be honest work of art) game. Not everyone will enjoy actually playing. it is frustrating, it is hard, but so is life. Jason has captured this well and i commend his dedication to keeping it this way.
Its not a perfect game its not a polished game but its one mans idea of life condensed into 60 minutes.
I didnt see it at first ither but the more i think the more i realize just as in the game i spend 10- 20% of my time thinking of my next meal and the rest working. With a little time for playing around inbetween.
This game is interesting. Its not the most fun to play. It can be frustrating. Sometimes you spend forever doing unsatisfactory work. Sometimes your the hero. Sometimes your the villan. Sometimes your a naked chick named turnipseed trying not to die and dropping babies on snakes!
Just try to enjoy the ride sometimes its slow sometimes its fast, but its almost always worth the 20$ ticket price
