I didn't reply afterwards but I tried the hideui thing and this happened:

0 UI from both the mod and the vanilla game. Had to close game, change value and restart it.
Just got this recommended to me:

Had no idea Jason was so huge haha.
Families for the most part settled on already existing infrastructure so there was a lot less dying off I would guess.
I killed someone today, I can't say I found it to be very smooth lol.
2. is actually quite normal.
Do you even teach anyone anywhere how to kill? A lot of people don't know at all. Besides many more people are newbies or have no reaction time to do any of it. Most "PvP" happens between older players. Not that many veterans available, with weapons ready, at any one point.
Groups of people with PvP oriented inclinations will most likely be the griefers. You are giving them a huge advantage with this.
You imagine people interacting in the game off screen, but what happens in reality is people coordinating on discord will "meta game" into targeting other random players one by one.
Group advantage shouldn't be overwhelming.
Another thing is that right now I can see a griefer in action and stab him right away. Done. With this change griefers will be able to do so much damage before anyone can group up to kill him. Earlier towns even worse, how many iron for knifes and ropes/string for bows/arrows do you have available? What happens if a griefer takes one? Do you need 3 at all times to counter him? What if they are twins? You need 5 and hope they don't mass murder everyone before people coordinate? What if they are quads? Is it even possible to defeat them?
You said on the other topic that you wanted families to last. The family you gave as an example was a family that was murdered by 3 griefers. The griefers were pretty much 1 to 1 in comparison with the rest of the town. They had little chance but with this they would definitely have no chance at all for a defense.
You also nerfed curses to quads because of unfair advantage but now you give them 2x walking speed when targeting a single person? Doesn't make sense to me.
Could we alternate them a bit more? Sometimes I have to spent upwards of 10 minutes trying to find one of them (usually desert).
Please no.
There is next to no situations where multiple people are available to chase a griefer. Most towns are composed mostly by newbies or people who had next to no experience with killing. This change would make it impossible for the one guy that can protect town to not be able to do so.
Group advantage should be a supportive thing, in the forms of curses and pads, not magic posses.
What if players only had to go eat every 10 minutes instead of constantly? Even with the same amount of hunger pips per second lost?
That should still keep the pressure of needing food but allow a buffer for other tasks. Hopefully something that could get us away from the "pie meta" and allow more interaction without having to always run towards food or carrying it on our backpacks which right now are mostly used as a replacement for the food buffer. Would also make kitchens more impactful. You would go for lunch like 5 or 6 times in a life if you had proper clothing.
How many times have you tried to talk to someone only for not even 10 seconds later one of you had to excuse themselves and go fetch food?
This would be specially helpful for newbies to not instantly die.
If we has towns it could be cool if we had some sort of "unlocking tech" mechanism over time. With town being able to unlock different types of tech.
That said, our current tech is too much "all or nothing", I don't see any way of locking part of the tech tree besides oil, engines or oddities like radios or cars. Maybe pies? But what's the point? lol
1. That's "passive interaction"
2. I have never seen an actual negotiation. With 1) there isn't any real conversation. People either just sneak in and hope they don't get stabbed or they don't get in at all.
3. Peace declared once per arc per pair of families.
4. War right now isn't "interaction" it's just a shift click fest.
We need tools for players to create their own story arcs that aren't based on:
1. randomly killing people for the lulz.
2. declaring peace.
3. lots of love emotes and smiling.
4. crafting the next level X for town.
Some examples off the top of my head:
- Intercity Trading
- Citizenship (towns)
- Town Politics
- Marriages
- Families (not lineages)
- Interfamily Trading?
- Property
- Police/arrests
- Record Keeping (books, history)
- More rewarding buildings: buildings shouldn't be so hard that it takes a full life to make half of one. I wouldn't even be building for my children and granchildren but for people down the line.
You give us 4 but don't actually give us meaningful interactions.

You can continue adding girl threshold births and improving birth distributions ad nauseum that you will still have the same issue.
If you check the last generations you can see that most of them were killed by their own family. It was internal griefing. As usual.
Did you ever solve your issue?
Some resources should definitely ran out after a while. Alum, Lapis and Cinnabar are definitely some that should NOT go out though.
Alternatively to having a vein, you could not destroy them during the creation of the dye. Make them reusable.
In addition, it would be great to be able to dye mordant already dyed clothing. It would be awesome if we could change the color of existing clothing that way.
My ideal arc would be a multi week arc to be honest. Even if you have to restart the server for updates every week, you could just repopulate the current arc map with new eves on a new eve window.
No need to reset everything so frequently.
Things do get boring when every required mine engine, diesel engine, oil rigs, etc are already done. But the solution in my opinion isn't so much to just add more objects to craft but instead promote player created content. We need new and recursive ways for players/towns/lineages to interact. If we could achieve that the game would be extended almost indefinitely pending lack of resources.
I've tried the mod out and found an issue with the notifications:

I never saw the notification for the apocalypse and I'm sure I'm missed some other notifications as well. I guess the search functionality overrides it?
Can we make it so that whenever a player goes to dtown they have to spend forty minutes or more there? Even if they die? Right now they would just keep re-rolling /die.
No.
The people most likely to do this kind of grief are the discord griefers which don't need to spawn as twins to play together. They can just spawn anywhere and ask others on discord to curse a specific name. Even with a distance limit they can just spend a couple minutes walking to curse someone (map not that big).
What we need in my opinion is a number that cuts just above the "curse noise" and any potentially abuse so that the system target only those who are consistently cursed over and over again.
I don't even remember last time I got bitten.

All in all, good changes I think.
Jason please remember we currently have a growl first always win system. Could we have a tie system somehow? Maybe they could both hurt each other?
4 curses is too low of a threshold imo. Maybe increase more slowly? One misunderstanding in town and a player can be forced out for a week.
This feature should impact people who are cursed consistently.
It could also make sense to decrease the score somehow (remove oldest curse token?) after one hour of donkey town instead of having a flat off-game token. People can just alternate accounts to bypass donkey town entirely if tokens are based solely on a relatively low amount of offline time. Having cursed players play off the curses instead of just waiting would make it a lot more difficult to cheat the system.
Where do you see that? Nothing on the frontpage.
Only one would need to be online inside the rift mind you.
I would like to remind everyone on how exploitable that kind of system is. We need a certain amount of minimum curses to avoid griefers being able to band together and send people to donkey town.
@Twisted you specially should be very aware of how this kind of thing can be abused. What if all griefers in discord cursed you during a live stream? You would be pretty much put on donkey town for the rest of the week.
