#76 Re: Main Forum » Chill out server » 2018-04-03 16:30:02

Does this server require a key/E-mail like the official servers? I'm asking because of a friend that wants to at least try it before buying it.

#77 Re: Main Forum » Any feral/nomad people ? » 2018-04-03 16:22:38

When I first started playing and started out in the wilderness as an Eve or born as kid far from civilization, I often took that opportunity to improve my nomadic skills by scouring for lands that had vital resources for a civ, all by foraging or scavenging along the way. My priority was always to get a basket and then a reed skirt before proceeding to find a good place to settle and stop my nomadic ways~

I try to avoid being nomadic too much too, since I'm afraid of being too far from where people usually are, which will make the area I'm in prone to return to its natural state from being a lonely place. But it's fun to do when you want to explore and find ruins and abandonned settlements.

#78 Re: Main Forum » Make Seed Farm » 2018-04-03 16:12:50

Yeah, that idea has been useful so far. In a town I recently was in, the seed farm was within a fence just next to the official farm, and we taught all the kids that the second farm should only be used for seeding.

The fact it was enclosed by a fence with one entrance naturally gave the people the idea that it was for seeds, without having to tell them, interestingly.

#79 Re: Main Forum » You want a killer? You get a killer » 2018-04-03 15:53:50

There are more considerate players than there are murderers in-game from my experience playing. From that, I can assume that if everyone had a knife/bow, they could hunt down the killer easily.

Also the last update made people less likely to get away from killing: dead bloodied bones linger much longer (5 minutes or so, for evidence) and the range for bows used to kill got shorter (down to 3 tiles). Also players have a longer slowdown in movement after a kill, and can't kill again for quite some time.

I rather enjoy the idea that a civilization should defend itself. I, as a player who favours contribution, often attempt at getting a weapon near me or in my bag to be a town savior in such cases, which feels very rewarding if you manage that. I've seen other "guards" on the lookout, too, trusted people.

At least there are screams now since the 30-31th March update, for when someone dies, we can even hear it from afar (from how far, that I still don't know). The sound is stereo too, you know if a person had died to the west or the east, which can asssure you can reach the murderer and kill them yourself in time.

What is better now is that with names, we can better warn others by saying the killer's name (if the murderer has a name).

To my baby boy, whom I have killed.

I am sorry that you had not lived for longer than a year. As soon as you came into my world, you ran out of my arms and went straight to the knife in the basket. You knew very well that bouncing against it again, and again, at your age, wouldn't make you wield it right away. I saw your impulsive intentions, but if by any case you were learning the ropes and were not a reincarnation of a town destroyer, then I am sorry for drawing my own knife. I would've let you bounce longer against the knife in the basket to your heart's content.

#81 Re: Main Forum » Keep all the children alive » 2018-04-03 05:36:15

As soon as I manage to be about 3 years old in a town that suffers from famine (or close to be), I tend to wander and live alone far in the woods and survive on berries to get my bearings. After making the basic clothing (loincloth or reed skirt), it's enough for me to help fix a town by getting whatever it's lacking of.

I had that happened to me, too. What worked for me was moving the game folder in C:\.

#83 Re: Main Forum » How to be an effective, good murderer and wipe out entire villages » 2018-04-03 05:21:10

I actually felt proud for killing a killer. I felt as if I saved the society I was in.

From that, I learned that having multiple weapons in a village really makes it more prone to be safe from killers when good people use them to defend themselves.

#84 Re: Main Forum » VirtualBox image with Ubuntu and OHOL test server pre-installed » 2018-04-02 05:02:30

After getting to step #6, I get a Kernel-Panic issue. Is that normal?

#85 Re: Main Forum » So has anyone else found themselves doing the same jobs? » 2018-04-02 00:07:35

Every new life, I try to do and master whatever recent thing I learned in the previous life. My first time playing, I adapted to farming and its functions. My second life, I slowly moved towards how to make compost. The life after that, I found out how to make pies. After that, how to become a good trapper and make clothes.

It becomes easier after each good life, as you try to balance all of the game's aspects out once you know mostly everything.

#86 Re: Main Forum » The birth of art and carpentry » 2018-04-01 23:52:32

Tables would be good to hold more bowls and plates than baskets or carts can carry.

I hope we get wardrobes or containers primarily for clothing, that could hold many more clothes than carts can.

#87 Re: Main Forum » Murdered for the first time » 2018-04-01 23:50:08

I've read a good idea around here about how to counter those kinds of events: Making more weapons.

There are many more considerate players than there are murderers in a civilization based on my experience. Murderers have a longer cooldown before being able to murder someone else, which gives a chance for other players to fight back, and it also becomes easier to call out and pinpoint who the murderer is now that there is a naming system, assuming the killer has been named upon rebirth.

#88 Re: News » Fan Art » 2018-03-31 04:05:14

That's amazing! Hope to see more fanarts to this game.

#89 Re: Main Forum » Am I the only one that think names are too restricted ? » 2018-03-30 22:11:52

I partially agree. It would be awesome if the system disallowed single-character names or vulgar names, and allow everything else.

At least there is a naming system now though, so I'm happy with what we have right now~
The fact we can pinpoint the name of a murderer is an improvement.

#90 Re: Bug Discussion » v69 Crashing » 2018-03-30 04:59:07

It happened to me too. I crash before getting to about 5 or 6 years old.

#91 Re: Main Forum » A map of villages and roads on server 3 » 2018-03-29 21:37:19

I kind of wish more map layouts like this existed. Seeing close villages around in a server is a neat way to know your town is not the only one around.

#92 Re: Main Forum » Still no update? » 2018-03-29 04:24:49

That bouncing bug is the only bug I've seen in the game so far, so at least everything else is stable. He made a temporary fix which should solve the issue until he's found the cause.

#93 Re: Main Forum » Make knifes for everyone. » 2018-03-28 22:59:06

I do like that idea. Most of the people I meet in a town that has only a knife or two tend to use it for anything 'but' killing.

When the number of knives increase and when there is a person who goes on a killing spree, it would be easier to just get rid of a killer like that if everyone were to draw their weapons.

Thankfully, in my 30-ish hours of playing the game, I've only had about two or three good lives where I have actually been killed by a player.

#94 Re: Main Forum » The Problem with Boys » 2018-03-28 22:51:02

I found boys to be ideal as workers, while mothers can breastfeed and teach children for the first 3 minutes that they're born about the town rules, the town layout, and what they need to work on to improve the civilization. I often ask my newborns if they're new, so that I can know right away if explaining needs to be done, about the basics on what to do and what to not do.

#95 Re: Main Forum » Do clothes vanish? » 2018-03-27 01:39:02

Yeah it's why it's best to die naked in the woods. Haha.

#96 Re: Main Forum » Do clothes vanish? » 2018-03-27 01:12:13

That explains a lot. It makes me kind of wish that body-containers could lay on top of occupied tiles, and only have disappearances if a dead body is on top of another corpse.

#97 Re: Main Forum » I am so... so sorry... » 2018-03-27 00:52:51

God I love this game for how the people we meet seem to only be a one time experience and we get to have stories out of each life. Kind of like Dwarf Fortress, where one round of game has a unique story to tell. RIP Kid.

Clothes are very important, for how it slows down hunger thanks to the heat they give.

But what I'm curious about is how I rarely see a surplus of clothing. Does anyone know if clothes vanish after some sort of cooldown after they've been made?

#99 Re: Main Forum » Favorite moments » 2018-03-26 22:34:59

Most of my lives have been unique, it's hard to pinpoint a favourite one when many of them end with happiness, humour, and sadness.

The moments I really love is seeing families and visitors work together, and the highlight of it all is not only seeing the progress that people have made, but hearing last words of the elders before they pass on their clothes and run into the woods naked.

I'd join, if I was a Facebook user, haha. But the Discord community is pretty active~
