I had to grief four or five lives in row one day to be cursed to DT. Every life with evil emote whole life, i had to announce what will i do before i got finaly cursed by more than two people.
If someone claims they got to DT by accident i don't belive them.
Waiting for hot coals takes 60 seconds (for hot oven only 15),but the most annoying thing is there is alway some "good" person who stokes your fire so it does not go out.
@ Spoonwood. Could you study this problem in more scientific fashion.
We have publicly available logs from servers that have lots of basic life data.
You can compare numbers of dead todlers from diferent months so we can see if game is better now or worse in this aspect.
Here are some of my thoughts:
Easiest method would be to make premade paintings at random or use common objects as templates like in case of crowns/tattoos
+ no extra coding needed
- no fun to waste time to roll specific one
- low variety and unintuitive design
? some sort of voting system for comunity made drawings like steam workshops ?
Simple pixel editors/painting programs
+ "unlimited" creativity
- extra UI
- hard to make good picture in limited time if you are not pro
- censoring ofensive drawings
Composing pictures from list of selected objects(new item artists sketchbook that stores list of objects you clicked on)
+ fast to use, similar to game editor
- hard to do more abstract paintings, can draw only things you can see in game
I have made similar topic almost year ago but none of players responded, I hope this one will not get buried under dozens of posts about how bad the game is nowadays.
The only way to Win is to Stop Playing and apply things you learned from this game in your life.
Thanks for sharing the video link Morti.
Unfortunately they left me craving smoked fish and I only had sprat and herring in oil.
Like some people have stated before, living in develloped town is boring.
Heavy work like mining iron and building water pumps, was just done by ancestors and those will not run out in near future.
Sure, there is plenty food and resources so anybody can start work on some novelty.
But if those things are not esential for town, they can feel meaningless.
If there is no immidiet pressure, no clear goal to focus on, people just start causing trouble to break boredom.
And even if peace and order is restored, having to fight your closest relatives is not realy satisfying.
Winning in Man vs Nature fight feels much better but there is to little such things in game.
Bear that comes to village was just lured there by your nephew and not by raw meat in kitchen nor livestock.
Game could benefit from random small disasters that are to rare to ocure in small camp but in big long lasting town they are just bound to happen.
Things like bear rug catching fire or berry bush pest could give folks some action without having to stab and curse fellow villagers.
What are your feelings on that matter, is this a good idea for late town gameplay?
Track carts are super slow, just a bit faster than carryng big rock.
The only reasonable use would be if they were the only possible way of interaction between the two devices.
Like moving ore stright from mine to furnace.
Core of game will always be broken, this game engine strugles to have any complex systems. Adding wierd non intuitive gimmiks like iron tapout will not help.
Why have map 4x size of Jupiter when only one object can ocupy single tile, a single seed takes as much space as boulder.
This is only one wierd design choice.
Without rewriting most basic stuff, this game will never be more than berry farming sim.
Older system of map culling had bug that made items with use count not be removed. This created some wierd ruins.
Now if parts of map are not visited for week they revert to original state with exception to stone walls and floors.
Also no objects/animals are moving/changing if there is no players around. Otherwise hundreads of lost sheep and other wild animals would slow the server to much.
Oil is bad example. Once oil starts flowing its depleted by same players who build that rig, converted to kerosene and used on diesel well to fill dozen cisterns around the fields so it can not be stolen or wasted. Before water goes out town can be dead from other causes than starvation.
Why no deadly animals in grasslands?
Animals can move onto objects if they have proper transitions made for it. If they don't have one they also delete object beneath if their movment is blocked (like old goose on stump bug).
I messed a bit with sheep pastures in editor.
Animal AI moves mostly at random so pens can't be to big or sheep never find food or to small because you loose lambs and grass can't regrow. Sheep need to be moved to diferent pasture eventualy.
It could be nice alternative to manualy feeding livestock next to kitchen.
Farms could use similar system with permanent soil that can't be moved around.
Do you want to host server or just have local one on your computer for testing?
If later, download Awbz it has compiled server https://github.com/Awbz/OneLife/release … n_full.zip
Try asking on Discord you will get answer faster.
The biggest challenge is to set up a trustworthy chain of financial institutions that will last for generations.
Money must be widely acceptable and keep more or less same value.
Infinite map and fragile populations that die off so often don't help with that.
There are not many things you can own in OHOL - cloths, backpack and anything that fits in it and that is all.
I don't think we will see any sort of money in this game, there is not enough time to hoard material belongings or argue about their price.
Most of time you are alive and well or dead in less than a minute.
Thanks .That was the caption this image needed.
Is it from forums or discord?
We could get rid of multi cultural cities in long run if race mixing was a thing or new children ware of same colour as majority of people in town.
Still one migrant can supply town with dozens of special biome resources.
What if you are born with skin colour of majority of players around your mother. So minorites just get assimilated and lose their special abilities.
How about auto screenshot? Whenever I play engaging life I never remember to make any.
I'm not sure what the trigger should be: killing, long conversations, doing many emots at once?
I just did small audit on tutorial area using https://onemap.wondible.com/
Out of 260 cells:
86 had lit torch at the end
43 skipped tutorial (torch below starting point)
I saw many die to snakes without lighting up torch (some did made fire and just lit firebrand)
Also i counted 16 succesful escape attempts (forge and cut tree), but like dozen ware made in same area, likely by same person.
A thing new players need most, are teachers.
A new player in Eve camp is almost certain to die young, but in advanced town without guidence it is dificult to find intresting things to do.
It is not yum bonus but extra food value added when eating.
Make some valentine cards and beware of Cupid.
