Op, I'm glad you are asking these questions. It doesn't sound dumb - I'm glad to learn things too!
Some of us are afraid to help because farmers are very passionate.
If I was a veteran farmer, I would not be very patient with headdesk inducing behavior, no matter how well intentioned the new person is.
Also, this game keeps evolving every week.
So the compost recipe has been changing multiple times, which makes people constantly adapt.
I think it depends on my current emotional allowance level?
But yeah, I get really sad sometimes when I'm the lone surviving son who never seems to get enough food for the camp...
There was a recent playthrough where my Eve mother didn't really tell me where the water was, but just said it was an unsafe distance away...
I didn't realize it was a few paces to the west. Literally wandered around with the last carrot and only water pouch while my mom just kinda - stood there?
came back to her saying goodbye.
I starved my mother.
Jeez. Gosh mom, I'm sorry!! I feel like a jerk.
Hi there,
I just spawned in as Eve Carris in a ghost town. I had Bob, and two other children...
Sorry to die in a town full of pies... that was really embarrassing. I was just trying to clothe my newest child, a daughter.
Hope the Carris line thrives. Sorry your mom made a silly mistake like that.
Best of luck to you all. Momma loves you all.
...

To the little girl who joined in on my dumb dancing skeleton gimmick.
Never in my two hundred hours of this game have I bursted out laughing like I did when you started copying me. I spent my whole life just entertaining babies by dropping and picking up a skeleton while making jokes about it dancing and egging the skeleton on. Thank you for the brief time we had together until someone finally had enough and stabbed me. I hope you passed on our skills to the future generations just like I did for you.
Tarr, you made me laugh sooo hard. I'd never seen anything like that. My mom told you to stop because you were going to give me nightmares, but I laughed. I think your name was uncle Eddie? I can't remember what my name was. Sad to see you get murderized.
Dear Lakme,
You were unwanted by your mother but I chose to help you. I got attached to you, caring for you by the fire. Once you left however, I never saw you again.
I looked for you everywhere in the big city, but alas no blondie running around like a wildcat. I even made you a wolf hat, but I never got the chance to gift it to you.I spent the rest of my life crying out for your name, and singing a little song about my sorrow.
My dear Lakme so young and free
My dear Lakme, but where is she
Life comes and goes always back to stone
Life comes and goes but why am I aloneIn the end, I was stabbed in the heart, wounded by a crown wearing angel. Perhaps he just wanted to free me from my suffering, so that I could find you once more in another life...
I remember being a little tyke in the village and although I was not Lakme, I remember watching you adopt her and then subsequently lose sight of her. So sad!!
Good idea!
I often forget to think of that. I like your thoughtful posts.
I enjoyed the bone dance uncle Ed. He made me laugh sooo hard. Everyone else hated him and he got murdered. Tis sad.
Great Job so far Jason!!!
Please stay motivated. I love this game. Maybe a bit too much? Lol.
I don't know if this would be immediately possible, but has someone suggested named graves?
As in, family & friends recognize recently deceased bones, but a random wanderer would not know? And eventually the recognition wears off as the bones age?
Might be nice to know my daughter died in the wilderness or that my favorite uncle Bob died by the forge... that sort of thing.
Anyway, great game so far.
I'm looking forward to the future.
Ha! I read that a couple times as going 'Full Richard'; then the post about being stark nekkid... lol!
I'm cursed with a darned mind of a twelve year old!
Yeah! Oral tradition is definitely a part of the game and leaving a legacy, but I just feel like many of the players are struggling against the game for a variety of reasons.
I feel like new players need to ask questions instead of panicking. Old players need to look out for the new players if at all possible. That being said, I feel like the game needs more development in general in order to make communication between players more useful.
This will be just a bunch of small steps forward... -> the name update is great.
Sorry if this is a silly question, but where is the coordinate tracker on a mac version of the game?
Those are good points!
I don't know about you, but constantly having to spout out verbal instructions to family members and newly arrived wanderers gets old. We are all running around in a chaotic frenzy trying to survive and don't have time to chat with a well keeper. Why go through the effort of making a well if you can't use it if it gets drained?
I've seen enough of the carrot seed row argument to know this 'verbal instructions' thing absolutely needs to be constantly repeated throughout the generations.
But, it's a developing game, so I have hope.
Maybe there could be seed keepers, well keepers, and water runners?
I agree! I hope this can be implemented!
