well the walls not auto-orienting serve more on the aspect of it being "harsh", i mean isn't building without auto-orienting supposed to be "harder"...
Building is now just "easier" with occasional ugly missmatch results. The diamonds also serve another purpose for me ingame. I hide items that i dont want people to interact behind em, like lets say bearkill set, rising bread, separating milk and special ingredients/items.
Sure, That may help in the long run. Not sure how effective a curse really is but it is at least something they can't avoid.
But that doesn't help at all in the here and now. They still essentially get free reign of the town.
Usually true grieffers(aka the town slayers, not the noobs testing out knife) tend to prefer on spawning as an eve, that way they are insant capable of using weaponry and can also wield warsword on others, as their family lines are not in peace with other family lines. There is no real cure for this as long as eves find their way back to big towns and a bell is an invite for the rampageing eves.
edit: also warsword as a tool of massacre is broken as fuck... you can drop it in ground and switch to new one reseting the kill bullet time motion.
Think its not even possible to kill a person from horseback. So horse makes you immortal. Horse is the most overpowered item in game and it doesn't even take a tool slot. Imo horserideing should be a skill slot tied to lasso just like fire bow drill/Flint-tipped Bow Drill. For people crying about slots "Git good".
+1 for lances. Not a knock of, direct kill. They use safer heads with more easily breakable wood in jousting shows. There could also be a show version of the lance. Also would make it so that you can only kill persons from horseback with lance as grieffing towns would be super easy with horse and a lance. If you'd be able to murder anyone with lance we would just witness the four horseman of apocalypse when grieffers would take this new tool into good use...
Heres a link about lance combat:

There was a suggestion when this whole auto-orient stuff was discussed about of making auto-orient stakes out of yew branch. That would solve this whole problem. So make the auto-orient yew stackes happen pls. Its really not that hard to just hit the stackes few times more for desired shape. If you cant do that then use ez stackes.
I myself love to build and the overall look you can get with mixing in few diamonds in between makes a big difference on how the building will look. Having no control on how the walls will orient is narrowing house desing by a ton. I hate the generic houses that are build everywhere and now with auto-orient im forced to invent new wayes of making the building look more unique. One big problem is trying to do dividers inside of rooms with diamond in the end. It's just not possible with AO. Also putting a fence for a horse infront of your house is now impossible(if you dont leave a space) as the fence will auto-orient to the house and go vertical.
well get your hate in here, imma bump this up when he back XD
Screenshots of auto orient being total thrash would be sweet.
So some noob tore down part of my wall when they went ancient and now i have to look at this thrash every time i work in my house.
Auto-orient is thrash REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
mango trees are harder to remove when soiled but not watered
also bird pine trees
ancient walls
way stones can be cheap if they can go ancient
Can't do mangoes other than jungle, but the waystones sound lika a solution.
Also thought about just making a barrier with some easy to acieve items, like 1 layer of kraut krugs, 1 layers of turkeys on plate.
For that you'd need 6 bowls, 6plates to get to the fence XD

Now you just want rabbit farms to be made.
+1 for rabbit farms.
If someone really goes trough the effort of hungry work and cluttering the ground for optimized rabbit relocation spawn, why not make it viable...
Thats a serious commitment on something so have a price for that.
gonna stone it, and surround the fences with uncle graves. Then its unpenetrable fortress too. Except everyone reading here knows its G-locked. Would love to use adobe to add few storage chests, but its vulnerable to penetration. Tho i could adoe the inside squeare only, with outer wall being stone.
edit: oh uncle graves can be removed, guess i have to figure something else out.

The lasso is already considered a tool.
Yes, but tie horse rideing into it.
The huge north west walled city was pretty sweet. It had some fun aspects as towns and people were competing for resources.
80% of the rift was just clutter madnes of useless items. Every useleful item running out. Fealth like the four horsemen of apocalypse were always present: pestilence, war, famine, and death.
Kinda feel like the world was always in post apocalytic state. Think the rift could work if it would be triggered for making an apocalypse. So instead of insta white screen w'ed get a rift opening around the endtower and every people would start spawning inside rift. So we'd have this world of starwation and war for only brieff period. This would encourage huge town to even trigger a rift when they are packed with resources.
XD horsewhispering should deffinetly be a tool slot ! Include lasso on the same package.
Really hope we get fas childs with alcohol too.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetal_alc … m_disorder
Baby with a only one slot and fas face. Alcohol doesnt suit fertile womans!
Build a pretty sweet all around few person housing on top of the next well west from belltown. Has capability to most common crafts. Had some newbies living with me from time to time, but pretty much build the whole thing solo in few lives.
Dont have a zoom mod and wont instal that, but heres a copy paste paint pic of it
Shout outs for all the west fammers. Gonna g lock it at some point. G for gangsta.
Finally a realistic goose model
XD i build that whole pen. In the lower version i grabbed a rando nobo with me for stick slave.
"anyone need teaching"
"today we build a sheep pen"
Take kid out with cart show him how to gather stick. Gather rope on your trips, make a cart for the slave and you'll have sticks for ages and can build huge pens in no time.
To stay in topic...
Beware of the mighty goosezillla, trapped it for you to stay safe.
ShekelCorp wrote:Long term its a super easy meta to break. Fire or fire arrows would make it bad long term but good short term.
What? Why do you believe that Jason will make fire spread like that? I mean he wants us to play a game of parenting and civilization building. I don't see how fire that spreads that way would have an advantage for civilization building or parenting... not on an infinite map with new spawns spreading people out.
XD fire arrows... Those things are a myth made by fantasy worlds. Cause so "epic"
fire + fast moving particle(wind) dont go well together, it will blow out when ever you shoot it or if you actually make an arrow big enough to support so large fire that it doesnt blow out in the wind then you essentially need a ballista to shoot it.
Also pine walls are temporary solutution to be upgraded later.
I learned "." tool for switching a saw into a box that held other tools.
It is not necessary to nerf the food to give emotion to the game ... (this only causes to eat more and have less time to perform tasks)
There is a lot of food in OHOL, reduce it with pests or with extreme weather
this is being talked about in another post ....
Oh this sounds really nice. I like things being challenging. Theres a huge difference tho in something being challenging then just annoying repetitive forced behaviour.
Edit... that topic doesn't focus on the different aproach to create challenge in food management. Like the pests/weather that you meantioned.
In finland we have this magnificent thing for picking berries.
Maybe with "advanced tech" it could be made available.
Recipe suggestion: stack 2 shovelheads--> hammer-->file-->done NOW GO MUNCH
This would bring a iron/water cost on making your life easier.
also weed is a "weed"(really durable and strong growing) and would thrive totaly fine outdoors, its just the laws of some countres that force people to grow it in their closests or optimized growth, polunation and hygienic reasons (mold).
Some crops thrive in greenhouse conditions, those plants tend to be pumped up with water, super fast growing and thus really fraggile to break. Some good examples of greenhouse plants are tomatoes and cucumber.
Also regular light bulbs dont work as a artificial light source for plants... Or well the do work to some extecnt, but the efficiensy rate is terrible. They only give out narrow spectre of the sunlight thus making it several times worse. Different spectres of light affect in to plant in different ways, like one boost blooming, one stem growth, one makes harder bark etc.
So with regular lightbulbs you'd be gradually just growing super weak bonsais with minimal crop and giving them much worse conditions than in a good sunlight with exposure to pest/wind(sucks moisture from plants big time) and other outdoors variables... All in all the amount of light is probably the biggest factor at which pace a plant can grow.
Good artificial lights are bit more advanced tech, like:
Sodium-vapor lamp
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium-vapor_lamp
and led lights
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light-emitting_diode
Fluorescent lights work too but they are deffinetly much worse.
Didnt even know about the gamble, would have saved lot of starving towns.
<---------Gardener irl.
The thing is that plants dont grow indoors, without artificial light. Greenhouses are also hot as hell too... They just boost growing rate, lock moisture and optimize growing conditions with irrigations/cooling systems not make the gardeners life more comfortable. You can really easiy pass out of dehydration in a green house as the conditions can get really rough if you dont take it into account.
Ez mode = food drains slower and foods have more pip value.
True, theres big advantage to ez mode. We can explore the meta and refine it into a playable form.
I freaking love pine tech. Its a really cheap way to desing layout of town which can be later replaced with a more permanent solution.
Would love to see more high tech wall content, like lets say brick walls, log walls, iron walls, glass wallls, concrete...
Tho this makes me miss the non auto-aling walls big time.
