*bump for love*
Domestic saplings were changed. Now they only make weak skewers, which are not as useful as non-weak.
That sounds like a bug. There's so many things that only craft with regular skewers and not with weak ones.
I just hope we can still play without Steam even after Steam release? I'm not going to that... "platform"... even if people would pay me to.
That's a good idea actually. Have a Steam server, but keep the regular servers for game updates first. If Steam people want to get updates first they can pay an extra $20 for the offline version and be part of the day one crowd.
Good. You deserve every dollar this game makes.
Bean plants could have a byproduct of a Vine left behind after all the beans are picked. Braided vines can make a sturdy enough rope. So, maybe have 3 vines in a pile, use hand to make vine rope? And since vine rope has a fairly limited time before it hardens in place, you could need to use it fairly quickly before it becomes "hardened vine rope" and becomes useless, except to chop up into kindling.
I like this very much. Except one vine per wooden frame segment. The hardened vine is a great idea to give the whole thing some urgency. +1
Dogs still need their jobs!
Beagle - rabbit
Dachshund - rabbit
Collie - sheep
German Shepard - sheep
Poodle - geese
Airedale - cattle
Pit Bull - bear
Chihuahua - watchdog
Schnauzer - watchdog
Each breed should interact with their respective specialty animals:
rabbit = hunt rabbit family holes and bring back a rabbit to a rabbit marker.
sheep = herd sheep to a sheep marker
geese = herd geese to a goose marker
cattle = herd cows to a cattle marker
bear = scares a bear back into its cave
watchdog = barks at murderers and follows them barking until the slow down has worn off. Watchdogs should also bark at mean pitbulls setting them back to being a normal pitbull. This way watchdogs also act as a sort of pitbull insurance.
Herding and hunting should happen if a marker is set. An item like the "open fence" with the bones of the animal between the posts could act as a marker for that type of animal. A rabbit hunter would bring back rabbits and drop them on the closest free space to the marker. Herders would scare the furthest domestic animals towards the marker.
The reason I don't bother with hunting bison is because by the time you have domestic dogs you must have domestic sheep for the wolf and domestic pigs for the carnitas to feed the puppies. This is very far up the tech tree so chances are a town already has domestic cows by then.
Any other ideas?
I thought it would be nice to have poodles retrieve goose eggs, since ponds are converted to wells by the time dogs are around.
Or have them dig a big hole that becomes a new pond? Now that would be useful!
But leaving juniper to be griefable and town ending due to lack of fire seems like an oversight.
Although until a black lady and ginger man are added it's still unbalanced.
New character types really should come in male+female pairs to avoid this sort of rhetoric.
This has been fixed:
Fixed server code so that any race with less than 4 members will not have same-race babies.
Thus, red-head character is a rarity now and not stable in terms of offspring. She used to be an attractor.
Different color wolf hats... cool!
If you get enough Yums can you live past 60?

Soylent Green is so meh.
For real yum! you want the protein bars from Snowpiercer:
Does this mean each of the skin tones A through F will be getting additions up to at least four characters each?
... because that would be AWESOME!
Having to relearn the click area for eating is totally worth being able to swap stuff in the back pack. Thank you!
Ew. But that requires joining Reddit. Ew ew ew...
Babies cry when they speak at the one letter stage, so they cry when they say "F".
This is outgrown at the two letter stage because by then you can baby-talk "HI", "OK", "TY", etc.
I find you have to click right in front of her head at about nose height. Not on her face, but just ahead of it.
Turnipseed wrote:5. Yes you can curse someone for two hours
So if someone kills me, I remember it's name and then I respawn as a baby, grow up (so I can type all characters) and I still can curse him/her?
Yes.
This made me think of grapes, and using the crock and stomper to make "grape juice"...
+1 for apple pie and peach blossoms!
OK, I just had the horse thing happen to me. Was a child and got on a loose horse, I then was stuck on it and couldn't move the horse either. It seemed to be glitching running on the spot. Someone in town fed me, so there I was for a while. Then for no reason I was thrown from the horse, but I was still moving as if I was riding and I was making riding noises. Someone came and put the horse away. I grew up normally except my resting stance was moving as if I was riding (arm and leg moving back and forth).
I finally died of starvation trying to run a baby back to town while on an iron run.
There's a horse cart full of baskets of iron north of town SIV family!!!
Ya, I just noticed Bison are clearly male, but have calves:

And schnauzer puppies grow up into dachshunds, and dachshund puppies grow up into schnauzers:

No, I mean the village would never die out, not the pro
Isn't that the point though? That if you care enough to make it to 60 you want back in? Getting to 60 is pretty tough anyway, I think even the best pros would have trouble doing it consistently without stepping on a snake or accidentally starving early. It would give people a tiny reward and a goal to make it all the way to 60 though.
Nah, a village with a pro would never die out
If the pro wanted out they could just suicide.
