Okay got confirmation from Jason that it was an oversight on his part to miss certain steel items with the steel rod being a pretty huge miss. Apparently he does plan on letting all the bits and pieces to be taken apart but since it was more work than making them recyclable he just went with a quick fix instead of a full fix.
So while I still don't agree with being able to toss such huge diesel parts into a scraping bowl it will eventually get fixed. Also still don't like the idea of scraping bowl being required for the eve tech steel as requiring a pencil can lead to trolling.

It wasn’t seen in 8h so nature reclaimed it. Only walls and roads are left, as those survive the map culling.
8 years is a bit fast for nature to reclaim your city. That should probably be extended.
It definitely should be brought back up to a week. Jason changed it to eight hours due to the shitty spawn mechanic where people kept landing in the same exact spot repeatedly which made parts of the map incredibly uninhabitable.
Now that he's removed that crap the reclaim time should be rolled back to allow places to exist for and the game to have some actual history again instead of random ass walls.
Funny watching how new waves of players learn and relearn all the weird quirks of the game.
Fun magic trick for you darn kids:
Find a door/gate/anything that you can open and close
Make area around door cluttered with whatever items you can find (fence material is normally the cheapest, just don't set it up)
Pick up random child
Stand on door/gate/whatever tile
Close it
Tell baby to drop itself from your hands
?????
Profit.
But if you /die as a male, your score will still take a hit from your dying nieces and nephews. No point /die'ing as a male. I guess I can see how that could minimize loss as a female though.
/die baby males shouldn't be gaining or losing points in the first place as only children born during your lifetime should effect your score. If you're losing points while using /die as a male baby then it's a bug.
>Refusing to feed other peoples babies because memer score.
Well I'm glad some random rank made you care about your babies more™ but your village straight up dies if no one looks out for each other. I sit around a GS of 20-30 because:
I'm notorious about not raising children if they pop out at a bad time.
and
Whatever I'm doing generally has more value overall than a random baby.
Slightly shocks me that the idea actually worked where people start doing dumb stuff for a leaderboard that is completely related to luck and one that promotes not playing if you have a good rank.
Now if Jason added a skill related leaderboard that might be worth something to fight over a rank on. Current memerboard has zero real value besides the reduction in pip loss which is a bad thing if you measured how close you were death to how many pips you have.
diing of old age in the tuttorial 24/7 to get number one ranking!
That's been fixed. Eves (tutorial or not) shouldn't get meme score from living so you can't afk in the tutorial.
I thought Jason would fix the SID babies affecting Fitness but no, he didn’t, anyone here know why they should lower the mom’s score?
If that's still a thing then it's a bug he didn't get around to fixing. I don't really play at this moment so I cannot confirm whether or not this got fixed though I thought it had been (or maybe it was just talked about getting fixed.)
I think he just made it automatically with all the sub category being scrappable, definitly should be changed, only the single parts should be scrappable and the mounted parts should be dismountable.
I mean that's the most logical thing for him to do tbh. Pretty sure he went through and did it manually though since I wouldn't assume things like the injectors/nozzle body, wick housing, or the steel rods would get skipped over if it was something automatic but who knows.
I say if you made he chain once, you can do it again. Don't be petty.
People who actually yum do it pretty seriously. It would be the same thing as stealing resources or hiding something you've been working on for a chunk of your life. While accidental feedings are a thing if you're walking around with food in your hand you should almost never actively feed other players unless they've got yellow fever or something. Most players aren't going to be running in town starving to death and if they are they're either new (there's plenty of red flags for this which is someone you might want to feed) or they're sick and need help.
Just don't feed people unless you're teaching them or they're shouting F or they're a little baby. There's no reason to do it and more than likely you're going to eventually annoy someone who has spent time yumming.
I don't mind he makes changes, especially when it's to something that was sorely needed (being able to scrap extra pistons/pipes/etc) but by basically allowing someone to recycle nearly finished items it ends up being taken a little too far. Like I am all for quality of life upgrades to things but who is messing up an engine so bad that you have spare diesel piston heads of all things? At that point it's better to just finish up the second engine and make a car or something fun rather than converting six steel back into one.
The scrap bowl change is definitely not something we needed in my opinion. Sure I have accidentally scrapped something before but most of the time it takes very little time to reforge something you scrap (hence why the items that take the most time/effort shouldn't be scrapped in the first place.)
It seems like his heart was in the right place but it was just executed a little weakly.
He added the scraping bowl to fight back against accidentally scraping engine parts but why are they scrapable in the first place? The base parts 100% make sense to scrap as I've accidentally made to many or hit a piston an extra time before myself. However, he seemingly went overboard on what you can scrap which is why he needed a scrap bowl in the first place.
I definitely think the bowl thing should be changed back with the onetech linked items being removed from the recycle list while steel rods, fuel nozzle body (not injector), and wick housing all being added to the recycle list. To go further I would ask to remove the lock and key items be removed from the recycle list as they're just trap options if you don't know you can blank a lock then take the two parts apart and recycle them individually. Basically if you don't know any better you'll waste steel every time you remove a lock and recycle it.

https://onetech.info/911-Lock-and-Key-Blank
https://onetech.info/912-Lock-and-Key-10
So if you weren't paying attention to the last QoL fixes update we got some changes to scrapping steel items and new items we can scrap. I'm a bit confused on why there needed to be a pencil requirement to scrap steel as now it undoes the ability to undo mistakes in early camps with someone smithing accidental extra tool heads or it allows people to purposely grief all the steel into pickax heads. This part of the update seems really REALLY bad and unneeded in my opinion. Pencil requirement seems bad, and either could be removed or changed to using just a piece of charcoal to mark the bowl.
Also what was the thought process behind what you can and can't recycle now? I'm seeing you can now pretty much take a nearly full diesel engine and just scrap it which doesn't seem helpful AT ALL. I don't ever think having the ability to troll that hard in game is worth the possibility of getting one steel bar back for over six pieces of steel invested in the item. Also are there some clear oversights or are you being malicious again Jason? You can't recycle steel rods (used to make swords), can't recycle either of the fuel nozzle bits (body and injector), and can't recycle the wick housing. Like it makes sense to have all the single parts to be recyclable but the following items do not make sense to be scrapped in my opinion:
https://onetech.info/2376-Diesel-Piston-Head
https://onetech.info/2379-Diesel-Cylinder-Head
https://onetech.info/2380-Diesel-Cylind … ith-Valves
https://onetech.info/2381-Diesel-Cylind … -One-Valve
Like I'm glad most of the base steel parts are recyclable now but 90% of this "QoL" update just seems like it's about enabling ways to grief or adding in noob traps for whatever reason. I thought the whole idea of removing noob traps were to make the game better or is this just some rough edges sort of stuff added to make the game worse?
I mean the game has definitely taken a nose dive since the addition of swords and fences. We got forced bad mechanics to try to make other shitty mechanics more palatable to the players.
Players won't use fences because they're annoying to get around or use in general? Better make a magic weapon that can repeatedly stab someone to death within four seconds of picking it up.
Scarcity of resources too harsh when putting players so close to each other? Well we don't want to spread them out so lets just wipe the map every eight or so hours for unseen areas.
One person abuses a system that had been mostly working fine since its implementation? Well we can't fine tune it so promise to give tools to combat the issue; "forget" and proceed to ask about just removing the system instead of fixing it again.
I miss being able to work with other families without having to worry about the one person with ill intentions ruining multicultural towns. I miss being able to trust Jason and not fearing Jason is purposely fucking up an update to push some agenda. I miss OHOL. I haven't seriously played since the whole genocide thing as the direction the game took after it has been terrible.
Spoonwood wrote:Do oil and make a kerosone tank before doing a diesel engine.
Agreed! I see quite a few places get a diesel well before even putting a pipe in a tarry spot. Would be nice if people figured out that a diesel well is useless without kerosene.
I think it's because one is actually fun to make (diesel engine) and the other is the game showing off it's tedium (oil grind.)
I mean to be fair memerboard has all of zero real value. Sure you get an extra few pips but you are an anonymous person on the board. Are you first place? Second place? Last place? I have no idea who you are and better yet I can just claim to be you as well unless we start posting screenshots with time stamps.
In relation to why you lose points: You punish the mom just like they punish you. Unfortunately that means for people actually playing for points you are hurt by people who don't care about points in the long run.
Looking through the scrap bowls it definitely seems like some of these items shouldn't be able to go in.

These are all huge wastes of steel and I can't ever imagine someone scraping these because they desperately need a single steel. It's nice to see a lot of the other high tech parts being recycled back to regular bars.
However... did you make it so steel rods aren't able to be recycled on purpose to prevent people from easily recycling swords or is this an accidental oversight on your part? I feel like it's not, but sort of one of those things that needs pointed out.
It's definitely not faster to just set up four newcomen towers with each individual attachment. You should be making things in batches according to what is needed.
First batch is newcomen hammer and it can take two to three firings depending on how efficient and if you have help. This step requires 12 steel bars to do.
One large pulley
One small pulley
Ten pistons.
Next batch of stuff is newcomen roller. This should honestly only take you one firing and with the left over hot kiln should make the fuel tank needed.
Make five steel rods
Make the fuel tank at the forge with the extra time left over.
Next is our newcomen bore. This is a very easy step just remember not to mess it up.
Bore two of your pistons
Bore three of the five rods.
Lastly is the lathe part of the thing. This is where it's very easy to fuck it up. Go slow if you are unsure it will take about two firings solo to do this even at the fastest.
Bore the two pistons you lathed.
Lathe six pistons twice each.
Lathe the other two pistons one each.
Lathe two of the three steel pipes
Lathe one steel rod once.
Lathe one steel rod twice.
Put third pipe into fuel tank then assemble all the items.
Takes about 30 minutes to do this solo from start to finish when forging bars.
yeah i saw the tarr family being warmongers that killed twenty foreigners in one war campaign, you pathethic hypocrites in terms of descrution.
i create many things, those stories are just significantly less interestring, due to being more repetitive.
You seen the idiots who are warmongers spawn under my lineage and pin that on me? Rofl. I brought them the iron and did the oil grind between my multiple lives in my family instead of being a memer like you. Unfortunately, I wanted to mass produce cars in that town but people wanted to waste iron on swords and by that point I'm generally playing in a place regardless if it's my lineage or not.
Ever since I started playing OHOL, I always just thought that griefers were dumb people, with no real purpose and not enough intelligence to create, so they destroy. I was under the impression that they didnt know how to make friends, so they hurt people to justify why nobody wanted to be around them. That's what I always thought.
So thank you for confirming my suspicions.
Could have told you that if you asked. Most griefers always take the easiest plan of action vs putting effort into things.
Murder people? Easy peasey so they do it.
Delete all the towns items? Too much effort to actually do for them.
Hide stuff? Easy enough to do if you have at least two brain cells.
Flood the town with endless milkweed seeds to ruin all the tiles? Takes a minute or two of setup so can't be asked doing it.
(these things are obviously patched at this point but there are plenty of things you can still do.)
but hey, they can shift click people so they've got that going for them.

I'm offended that you got so offended. And if that offends you, well sir, that offends me.

Just ignore Humby, she's a troll if you haven't realized already. She's pesty enough in the discord but now she's going around shitposting on the forums too.
I'd try to be mindful of idiots in the future. Roleplayers normally end up being sheep who will pretty much curse without what is going on or why something is happening and explaining to them usually just leads to them reeing about not murdering trolls.
You've got a curse score of 25~54 which gives you a threshold of six curses before going to DT. I'd be very mindful for the next few hours as once you left donkey town your curse score is five (one curse would send you instantly back) which probably wouldn't be very fun. While I'm not personally inclined to believe people who say they dindu nuffin wrong I myself have nearly been sent to DT because of an idiot and mob mentality.
The number in the right hand corner of the client (above where the curse token) was the amount of time you have in donkey. You would have had a 2 which tells you which curse tier you are in (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 are all the different tiers) which also tells you how many curses you need to get to DT in the first place (8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3 respectively)
I would assume the next real levels of tech would be quality of life things instead of just toys you can't actually use on the main server.
Watering cans
Lighters
Storage UPGRADES
For new fun updates I'd like to see for late game.
New building materials
More building paints
Cheaper building paints
New road materials
More animal husbandry (rabbits, horses, snakes, bears?!)
After diesel the game should be about actually building civilization.
I suppose I've lost something in the conversation so far but I'm pretty sure StoneHoe doesn't mean they want to bully you... But I don't know, I'm confused.
And I'm not familiar with you, as I'm new to the forum, but I'm looking forward to your posts.
