if you care for the gene score ranking, which surely you just should not, unless you are a hipster incapable of original thought, because its just arbitiary nonsense ranking mostly based on the lack of skill of your peers, and not at all on your own skill, then:
- if you get born in a city near jungle, just /die.
because jungle towns significantly diminish your ranking, because newbies just can not stop diing near jungles.
Especially while theres baby booms (which usually get triggered a lot ny bananas at jungle borders) and their looming food shortages, so the main food source is bananas deeper inside of the jungles.
The problem here is, large town populations are newbie traps, who only want to play in large towns, because they believe in the folly, that large populations make things easy for them, which seems often true, but not near baby boom and mass starving causing jungles, because then you just lack the cake by generation 3-5.
clueless people just cant help but suiciding themselves at young age, disregarding their gender. jungles sure help them kill self unintentionally a lot.
"diing like a newbie" happens in nearby jungles disregarding:
- someone chopping most trees in nearby jungles
- gameplay experience, i play a lot, but starvations cause you to hurry, and in that risk you more likely die.
- being called a newbie by griefers, while generally being a sole survivor of most such near-jungle baby booms. just saying, noone is immune to mosquitos.
- fenching off a nearby jungle area without property fence gates (something i may have to keep trying, theres something magicaly about how property fenches are a newbie magnet, preventing them from going astray and waste their backpack in a jungle)
---
while the rating is dumb, it still ranks something, and low ranking means generally low life expectancy, which sure is done by jungles.
it may be nicer to rank my age AGAINST the lowewr life expectancy of others (so my ranking is higher for being smart enough to just avoid jungles til age 45, compared to my dumber siblings), as fraction, with some bayesian-theorem stuff.
and murdered/bearkilled people should not count here, cause then ranking me/anyone higher for murdering whole towns of ones own family for the sake of a high gene-score would just be generall madness. no that needs a better reason than that...

But if you /die as a male, your score will still take a hit from your dying nieces and nephews. No point /die'ing as a male. I guess I can see how that could minimize loss as a female though.

/die baby males shouldn't be gaining or losing points in the first place as only children born during your lifetime should effect your score. If you're losing points while using /die as a male baby then it's a bug.
fug it’s Tarr.

One of my first lives after the gene update was on a jungle town with tons of mosquitos, very limited safe space and tons of mosquito bites. The town was a very narrow patch of green between jungle north and south. So narrow mosquitos could move between jungles. It was pretty bad.
I was a male so actually had time to do stuff. I used property fences to section off a ton of jungle space for the town, both north and south. making it safe and with space for kitchens amd whatnot. During my last 20 minutes no mosquitos bites at all. Ended up being an overall positive gain for my gene fitness score.
Sometimes you just got to make the best of a bad situation. Which is pretty much in the spirit of the game.
