Desert living

Ok lately i have spawned into 5 villages in the desert where the people were grinding and i mean grinding away at a living with famin often. Did i miss some email where people think living in the hotest climate possiable or putting your baby above the fire in the desert is a good idea? I just want once to spawn into a village full of people that know how to play.

And on that not am i the only one that gets the worst eve spawns? Either no water for as far as i can go or no food? Its starting to get a little depressing when it happens almost every time.

Re: Desert living

Yes, I agree with the temperature issue. The desert is too hot when wearing clothing or having a fire; too high on the temp meter, as you know, has the same effect as freezing.

Don’t force your baby by a fire in a desert. Please.

Especially after they tell you “too hot.”

I think it might be started by bad info to new members somehow.

Re: Desert living

Desert villages are really good if you have a lot of cactus. You want like four cactus per person, so finding a spot with like 20 is a great place to start a village in. You can live entirely off cactus. Some people also like the warmer location, though I wouldn't build a village there entirely for the temperature.

Re: Desert living

Desert villages do not usually need fires for warmth.. Just find a good tile to have babies chill on.

Usually it isn't hard to find one with near perfect temp, with that and a smart baby you can live if fed one or two times your whole babyhood..

Re: Desert living

Living in desert - bad. Living on the edge of a desert where you can settle on a tile between the desert biome and another one to maintain perfect temperature at home? Very very good. If it's bordering a water filled swamp with some lush greenlands and rabbit fields nearby that you have farms set up on so even the naked worker people are warm but not hot? Dream settlement. I do love walking through a fruit filled desert from time to time though, but the desert to clothed people is like the arctic for naked people. It's not great for naked folks either, but neither is being naked.

Yah all theses vilages were smack in the middle of the desert! People going through carrots like they were tick tacs. 8 people farming 1 person making a sign amd another 7 running around eating everything in the area. I made a pie and watched them drop like flies.

Well I am sure they are dead by now then.. Maybe they learned lesson?

lol
but you should be rather grateful probably that there are still new players, then there is a slim chance they learn it eventually
lol

& nope, you are not the only one spawning as Eve in horrendous biomes & biome constellations
though the last couple of times i spawned as Eve it was quite decent to even great !!!, got me thinking already that Jason changed the spawn system or something
because most times since the beginning i spawned as Eve either in badlands or in snowy tundra lol

Re: Desert living

I always get a desert spawn as an eve, at least it's an easy suicide. Not only are desert villages way too hot, you also have the added benefit of snakes coming and going from your village. Seems like a lot of people misunderstand the use of deserts, especially the ones that are fully clothed in them.

Like what's already been said, Living near a desert is useful but living IN a desert isn't. Not only can you raise babies but it also allows people to travel great distances. For those that don't know, if you stand on a desert temp spot and start running without stopping your temp never changes and you save a lot of food.

Dont get me wrong i love teaching new players. Thats the only reason i play. I was jist pointing out the number of times i have apawned into a vilage like that.

I had one great spawn yesterday as an eve and before i could move a snake got me. sad but such is life and death in the game.

yeah kinda the middle is very bad, above 80% heat is same as default bioems, even worse as clothign wont help
you can dig around the middle and drop one item into each, so its blocked in middle, then people just go with it and avoid, cause cant enter

i see often that a carrot farm is between two deserts in the green cause eves kids are dumb and go for simmetry instead of temperature, i dont even ask just move it, if they starve by not finding new farm they deserve it

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

Re: Desert living

I found hilarious, recently, to be a baby born in a desert : my mother swiftly got me a full set of clothes and cooked me on a big fire. I didn't even last one year, and had no time to run away or tell anything...
Maybe it was a cannibal tribe ?
