Graveyards Are Too Big if Everyone Gets In

So far since graves have been added and I've been playing as a grave digger it's become clear:  There's too many people born, for everyone to get a grave.
We need to preserve grave plots for the members of society that made a difference and deserve to be remembered.  It should be something to be earned and a driving reason for a player to give more than they take each life.  I further make the suggestion, that a proper burial reset being locked out of a lineage for a player.  This would allow players that make a difference to return and see that difference, while allowing a community to decide to dump the bones of that griefer, they get no respect, they are locked out like they should be.

I still think that there isn't anything that the players can build that should not be able to be unbuilt or destroyed.

If it is hard to tear down like adobe walls with water and a pick that is fine but nothing should be permanent. The
idea of endless fields of graveyards or no more flat rocks because they are all graves just seems so stupid to me.

One thing is for sure, the graveyard should be set a decent ways away in generally unused land...like a snow or rock biome.

Too many graveyards are right in the middle of the villages...and that is not productive.

As for permanence, a white rose could be placed on a grave and this would make it permanent, otherwise red rose graves will decay in time.

Anything that is permanent and indestructible will over time expand to cover everything. Perhaps putting
new flowers could reset the grave decay timer. After a few hours of no one giving a shit about you anymore
maybe your grave could become unmarked and eventually just topple over and become a flat rock..

It does not even need to cover "everything". Just cover doors from outside to render them useless or block any other "usefull" spot. Thats why we can remove adobe kilns/forges/adobe walls/empty thrash pits and full thrash pits are walkable.... exactly the same problem.

Pine walls and stone walls have the same problem but are at least a bit harder to make, yet I've seen reports of players blocking houses with them...

If graves are permanent they will become great problem as they're easily available.

At least the map culling from the villages they kill will sorta keep them at bay, but I doubt that is the kind of balance people are interested in sad

Neither is the tightrope walker, that is why they are always re-balancing themselves.

Re: Graveyards Are Too Big if Everyone Gets In

Guess you could start by not burying dead babies, especially ones that got left to die. You could go ahead and extend that any that die young, Don't have to waste time and space on people that did nothing and starved young. That would reduce your graveyard size significantly. If you wanted to be real hardcore you could only give old people proper burials, these people probably deserve the graves more anyway.

Build a nice fancy grave for people that make it to old age and just the old boneyard for everyone else, would be a nice incentive for people to live longer.

Re: Graveyards Are Too Big if Everyone Gets In

shouldnt even allow a grave under age 10
simply should be smaller bones, which are not diggable

a kid who dies near the farm, because doent pay attention, doesnt do anything special in life, why would you spend so much time on it?

i often see like 7 girls each with 10 babies, while 8 of them dies, their mother dies between 14-25, but has like 5 babies, and im getting old age, seeing 4-5 generations, so there will be 100 graves in my lifetime? i would like to see 100 milkweed planted, or 100 branches/clay brought, graves are kinda a waste anyway

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.
