OK I just wanna firstly say that I am a huge fan of the game and appreciate all the work Jason has put into this, hoping for a better future!
Alright, I wanna talk about towns...or villages, or cities, whatever floats your boat, these places, these havens of random people in one family (usually) working together to create something wonderful was such a great sight!.... well until it wasn't.
You see every town had fundamental problems, things that were small or generally unneeded were forgotten about and thereafter caused the town's downfall. Small things like watering plants like the bushes or the carrots, to even forgetting to keep the fire running, or some random person killing everyone... but that's a problem for next time. What I'm talking about here is the little things that people forgot to do, or even, DID do, like picking unripe milkweed and emptying ponds, as well as picking one berry and making a bush virtually useless. These problems were abundant and caused cities to collapse.
I once played in a city that was apparently void of these problems... there were 3+ milkweed farms, two giant fertile bush farms, one huge carrot farm, many carts, weapons locked in chests and protected, there were queens, and buildings, it was the neatest and most plentiful society I found to date! I did not last, however, as even though I was the queen! I somehow managed to lock myself in a sheep pen with no room to go and whilst desperately trying to escape, I died shortly after my mother. My death aside, it was A POWERFUL SOCIETY! Well... until it wasn't
The society I had thought was going to last, collapsed, not even a day after I was spawned in and saw complete havoc. All the baskets and carts decayed and useless, the buildings made of adobe were destroyed, the wells empty, the bushes cleared out, the milkweed vanished! It was just another example of a failed society.
Recently, however, Jason has put out an update that has tackled these problems head on! even though murderers are still rampant, and griefers ubiquitous, the main and most common problems were corrected! These include the milkweed catastrophe, the pond drainage, the uselessness of mines, and the biggest problem by far... THE WELLS! Too often have I seen that dry wells plage a village/town, now that these small "don't do's" are gone, the game changes for the better, and even though like mentioned before, there are still problems in towns... Today I've seen so many thriving cities, and living communities do to these changes! Hoping that this trend can continue and that more people will play on Jason's server! And not the rip off ones... Anyways! until next time

This. Unless there is an active smith, baker, or potter, LET THE FIRE DIE. It takes all of 15 seconds to relight the fire if you didn't chop down all the juniper and maple trees in the area (which you should never do).

Inactive towns fire needs to be lit at all times, babies are always born and smithing and baking are needed to be done literally at all times to survive.

Neither smithing nor baking should be done constantly.

You are going through a kindling every 1.5 minutes to keep a fire lit. Yes, you do have 2m of
hot coals but that is more your catch area than fire area.
Keeping a smith fire lit while actually smithing is fine but you are better off making tools in batches.
Raw pies should be assembled in baskets around the oven so you can cook them all at once, ideally
at least 2 baskets but it is easy for one person to 4-5 baskets solo on one firing if you set up your
work space first.
Fuel for the fire is NOT cheap.

Ponds refill now, even if drained.
Milkweed doesn't respawn anymore, so if you have a bunch of seeds already you can pick it anytime.
Picking the last berry on domestic berry bushes resets the regrow clock, so it's a good thing. Just remember to water it.
Fire is a HUGE waste because branches don't respawn anymore.
To survive you need sheep, for their poop, for compost. Running out of soil is the long term survival limit.

Is this website no longer accurate? I was under the impression that it was set up to scan the game files to update itself.
It says that the branches do respawn, but since it has been an hour long process it would be near impossible to witness live.

you can witness branch respawn as they got shared timer, so if you pick one as eve, your grandkid can pick that again or anything in screen, so pretty important to pick off all branches within the hour
sometimes you pick it twice in an interval of 5 min
babies cna stay on a desert tile or next to it when you choose a slightly colder and put rug on it, or the one next to it when has clothes, but you should never clothe a baby, let it take if its smart enough, its not your baby is the towns baby, you dont owe anything, its nice to keep alive to dont ban him 3 hours before even has a chance, but clothing should always go to experienced players not random babies who die anyway
as for tools: 3 iron can make hammer axe shovel, yes shovel, not hoe, you can have two or three stone hoes, shovel can make a pen or a well. now with well buffs, any horizontal desert next to green biome can be turned into a nice base, ponds are great, but you can just settle near 4 ponds and that keeps a small family alive, cacti also great, it keeps somebody alive when every food is gone
then adze pickaxe froe from next 3 irons, and you can make a few stanchion kits, one for iron vein, then you got no iron troubles
and upgrade wells, ideal farm placement is max 2 inside desert, more inside is just too hot. so yes, 2 tiles on the side of desert 10 rows 2 columns, thats why horizontal desert is better, as people are more comfortable with the wide farms, so you can go 2 rows 10 columns for exemple. the more fragmented a desert is, the better, as mixed tiles got better temperature than just desert.
a well should be then placed 1 tile away, to leave space for a basket, you can make roads there too signal this, generally best to space out even more, 5 carrot should be able to have space for just be thrown on ground so each tile should have empty space right and left, or switch as a checkboard pattern. baskets and boxes are premium now but if you got enough you can make a line of boxes other side and have lid on it so people dont mke carts out of it
wells replaced cisterns now so a well can be made near ponds to contain water and just take it with a cart of pouches
multiple small farms work better than one big one
also each female should "marry" someone, meaning a guy takes care of you and your kids
this is good cause at least she makes food for you and you make clothes for her or vice versa
i would like to see earlier sheep pens, or atleast prepare for it, shovel, bow, arrow, rope, 2 berry bowls
turns out that graves are great building materials, you can use them to block tiles, so would be nice to build grave walls instead of grave compartments
the rules for sheep pen apply for rooms too, a diagonal acces blocks animals to get in and get out so you can prepare for animals by building farm inside such room
wells, kilns and boxes also can form walls, use them smartly to create a pen with less materials
i got plans to make nice setups, but i didnt born into a city with a t least a shovel and steady food production , tools, very long time ago, or the city needs other stuff so i cant just go and build stuff
