Newb question about containers

Hey, so... I've been playing the game a couple days now.  And I seem to be able to put things into baskets and backpacks... but can rarely get them out again unless it's soil or bones... or by accident.  What am I missing?

Also, could we set up a newbie thread where people can post incredibly stupid questions such as this and don't feel so, well, dumb?

Maybe it’s an issue with your mouse. Are you right-clicking on the basket to get the item out? You can right-click with your hands full to exchange items in the basket.

Also, don’t get bowls and baskets confused. I used to do that and see a lot of people do so. May be your problem.

soil,bones is left click, everything else is right click

you can right click items on ground to swap them
when no space can save lives
i usually eat like that, just drop basket on a food
especially on smithing where you got 30 sec, i can do 5-6 with no lag even 2 steps, crucible and then take out plate and again back to fire
