Does gear still get deleted when you die?

Does gear you are wearing/holding still get deleted when you die on a farm plot?
Die on berry bushes?
When you logout via ESC% ?
When you die because of lost connection?

Any other ways?

I think dying on a farm still deletes all gear. At least thats what I have seen.

I did not even know disconnecting deletes gear. I thought you simply become a bone pile.a

I have no idea what happens when you ESC% out of the game. Do you become a pone pile, or just disappear?
I've seen several people just disappear into thin air, and I wasn't sure if that was a glitch or them logging out/lost connection.
I've been with other people who saw it at the same time as me so I assumed it wasn't a glitch.

You become a bone pile whenever you die, and the pile contains your gear.

HOWEVER, the server searches for an empty tile when this happens, and it only searches so far. If you are completely, there's no place to put your bones, so they disappear.

Checked the code, and turns out that this happens if your tile and all four neighbor tiles contain permanent objects (objects that can't be picked up).

I will improve that bit of code to expand the radius of search in that case.

I expanded the search radius to a spiral of 100 tiles around your death location. The closest empty spot in there will be used, and your grave will only vanish if all 100 tiles are full.

This fix will go live this week with the update.

Also if the server stops suddenly (i.e. crashes or is manually stopped) you will lose everything you're carrying.

I don't think I've ever stopped the server manually.

And it hasn't crashed in many weeks.
