Wanting to kill everyone, but barely knowing the game to survive on your own... oh dear.

Criken, tomato, and that crew of content makers opened up some floodgates for us. Teaching can be a fun intimate experience between a couple or a few people.
But we're talking triplets and twins being a regular occurence. Towns of 20+ in rapid boom-bust cycles. And in the chaos no one wants to learn. They want to survive.
It is my most hated role to play, but after a couple villages, I was tired of seeing people picking every last berry bush and carrot row clean, with no fed sheep or compost in sight. As the sheep butcher I stood watch over the precious few berries left. And some kid started feeding everyone in sight with them. So I stabbed him. I explained what I was doing and why, that the field needed guarding...and I got stabbed...and even a point of curse or two in response to it.
The next life, I was helping in an eve settlement. While trapping I had children far from town and just decided to talk to some potential day 1 new players. One boy I spoke with for quite awhile. Said he had been trapping before, but no one had taught him. So I explained family rabbit holes to him...Then he asked me how to make a knife
"...Why?"
"For tra-ppin-g"
...There is no need for a knife in rabbit trapping. Maybe he didn't know skinning was done with flint, or maybe it was a new player who thinks this is a kill or be killed world. (If you are truly in need of self defense, a bow can be made long before a knife). The whole experience left me unsettled, and I was not sad at all when he didn't survive the trip back to town. Knowing someone is trying to figure out how to get their hands on a weapon just for the sake of having a weapon... WITH LITTLE BASE GAME KNOWLEDGE is the fastest way to lose all trust. I don't want to teach you, you will only use the knowledge to survive on your own and murder from afar for all I know.
I have not had a truly rewarding teaching experience in awhile. The only time it ever happens now is in a camp or village where everyone else has died and amongst the remaining couple of players, there is time, freedom, and resources to sufficiently teach someone something and have them do it. But in the towns of 20+ players, many of which new, its a chaos shitstorm.
I hate going violent in this game, truly, but even I'm driven to freaking out and stabbing people when the resources are desecrated so carelessly. And if that ends up landing me in Donkey Town, then I think I've lost touch with this "new playerbase" completely. This isn't the game I bought in early 2018.

Being the troublemaker I am; I plopped in as a new baby and waited to grow up. I had a plan, an evil plan.. Kill the entire village I was born into.
Even if satirical... I just don't get it. Only putting research in because penalized, only changes made when forced...
After playing normally for a while I killed around 4 or 5 people in a village.
How long was this normal play that you didn't even grasp being able to sustain yourself? Genuinely curious to what time frame you went from, my goal is to take enjoyment from others to fulfill myself, to I will play normal, to I am gonna to do it again and more widespread. I am going to straight out say it, I think punishments for these types of acts should be doubled to tripled. The ripple effect of griefing can really stagnate a game like this, killing off playerbase if not kept in check.
The very sad part about this, you aren't just griefing people around you, you are greifing their ancestors too, people you never interacted with. You don't see them typing obscenities, you don't hear them begging on voice into yelling. You aren't making them lose that round, you aren't watching them squirm. You are just taking unknown hours from unseen faces and flushing it down the toilet and thats enjoyable. I just don't get it.
Murdering someone that was going to die in less than an hour anyways isn't even that bad. Shitty because it eats up a lot of productive time, and possibly loose the tools of their destruction. The real scare is when someone puts in the time to know the game well enough to actually kill off a settlement by hitting the animals and tools, filling up all the bowls with palm kernels and all the buckets with rubber... Weak links matter in this game normally, those with intention to break these links are the worst. I would pay monthly to lower the chance of this to nil.

I wanted to grief off a village yesterday to vent off some frustration from a previous life.
After poking some bears and killing a random girl, I had to stop.
I know the struggles of keeping a village going, too well through experience. Therefore, watching these people, going through with the same struggles as I had a billion times, made committing sabotage, unsatisfying.
The bears got killed and I took a time off.

I can't understand what forces a frustrated, bitter or bored person to stay in the game and start messing up others' work. Why can't we just drop it, die in snow and go blast people in Overwatch or Fortnite where that's the actual point and reason to play?
Why we force habits from other games to games where they hinder gameplay of a team (population)? Why are we so selfish? Why can't we listen to logic instead of feelings? "I'm bored. I'LL KILL EVERYONE BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE IT." uhh how about that Overwatch or Fortnite m8? Seriously. Logic would say "get the hell away from this and go to somewhere better".

I was in a newbie filled town some time ago, an aunt immediately tried to kill me (I was the darkest character, the male one) by taking me away. She spouted racist comments. My mom and grandmother were silent, feeding me and holding me, but didn't bother running after when the aunt kept trying to take me away. I lost the aunt and waddled onto warmth, hoping I have time to grow to feed myself. I grew, and started working for the town. Gritted my teeth when the racist, sponge of an aunt made her appearance with her daughter, both spewing racist comments now. I was the backbone of the town, I made pies and took care of the farms while making tools and pottery, like a hurricane of productivity, and these women just stand and insult me for no reason (boredom probably, not good enough to be a reason in my books). I paused for a moment, do these people deserve my carrying? I could easily end them by spending a moment to get arrows and a bow. I could easily hide my pies. I could wreck their berry bushes they kept gobbling at. Or I could just die.
Then I thought, this time with logic. These are just two players in a town of like 8 players. These other players are farming and trying to be productive, they don't spout racist comments or harass me. They are quiet for sure. Also, there is an Eve somewhere along this line who made this camp and survived with her children. I'll work for her and the people who worked before me, I'll work for these silent players and the next generations. For them, I'll stay and keep making this place better.
The racist aunt died at 40 or so and her daughter at 16 or so. Starved. Didn't find a berry in time. Hah. Meanwhile I lived to 60 in peace, occasionally saving a starving baby screaming for food, left behind by bad moms. Named some babies too.
For the town, for the Eve, for the future generations, for the silent workers.

There is oddly a lot of personal ambition seen in this game. People will sit there and make a dozen tools and source piles of iron during a food shortage, because THEY are the self proclaimed town smith. They won't stop their projects to take care of another area if it starts to crumble. When asked to do something, if they don't like the task, they will just do something else. They produce what is deemed useful and an amount that only lasts a few gens. Thing is, sometimes the world doesn't need astronauts, it needs farmers.
One life, I was born to a mother juggling multiple babies in town as their mothers were out gathering. She barely had time to take care of what was needed and keep us on track. She asked me if I could please get rabbits since no one else was doing it. I spent about 45 years trapping rabbits and gathering/growing thread, every baby born was clothed and given a backpack from me. Those clothes were probably passed down for generations, well at least I hope. When my granddaughter was born and asked me what she should do, I told her my life story. I asked if she would accept the torch, to be part of the machine instead of trying to drive it. When she said yes, I told her I have barely a year to live, I put my backpack and clothes on her and picked her up. I spent that last 90 seconds showing her what banana trees to stop by on the way to the savannah and where the good rabbit hole clusters were. I told her thank you, and goodbye. I died of old age with her in my arms, with the words of "You are the best grandma I ever had and I don't want you to go" lingering my head.

Yeah, it's shitty when people do that, but some do it just to get an easy way to get earlier out, perhaps possibly get in lonely server of Donkey Town, where imo is fun to do all on your own, especially when you already know what is ahead of you.
If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.

Instead of doing shitty things and ruining other people's fun just to get into DonkeyTown, why not just run a private server when you want to play all on your own?
Go to https://github.com/Awbz/OneLife/releases/latest , download the "win_full" zipfile, unzip it, and in the "server" folder run "runServer.bat" with administrator privileges (right-click and choose "Run as Administrator". Then in the game client connect to "localhost" and hey presto you have an entire server all to yourself.

And the cycle continues: when I joined the game a few months ago it was worse, it was murder very often and you learned to become watchful and make sure you always had access to medical supplies. It will come again, the community will overcome again. Don't forget you have a curse, if someone truly earnt it off you then use it as they're more than likely earning it off more than just you. Make sure you know where medical supplies are or better yet, make some, learn where weapons are or carry one in a pack.

Medical supplies ? I just run off and go to the jungle. The medical mosquitos kill off newbie greifers, and heal my wounds, and the bananas feed me till the idiot greifer starves or dies of yellow fever.
