So... why do people think breeding pigs over sheep is better?!

Like, Honestly thats the response i got when there were like 12 pigs, only 3 shorn sheep in a tiny pen. I tried to talk to them and they said "RESOURCES! Pigs better because less resources used" Right but sheep give way more. I needed string for backpack for rabbit fur collection.

PLEASE TEACH YOUR KIDS.

Jeez.

I get pigs are good for yum bonus ish. (I dunno really carnitas? taco/burritos?)

But they are NOT better than sheep. Ever.

I did try and explain but was a bit astonished tbh, as I said, these were all in the same pen! Sheep had no room!

Sounds like trolls to me, No decent player would breed pigs.

Re: So... why do people think breeding pigs over sheep is better?!

Yeah I was skeptical of that tbh. it was a well established village, but It was two seperate villages doing this.

I didn't think it was THAT good anyway!

I honestly never bother with pigs, cows i do, but always in a seperate pen.

Food is very hard to make and uses tons of kindle. Most players don't know how to do it because it's complex and you need to use the FORGE to make any kind of pork food. That means the blacksmith is a mess until you make a limed corn station. I've never seen a limed corn station. I like to make tacos when I have the chance but you only need one pig.

And you ought to be helpful about keeping the smith area clean if you do.

Pigs are a waste. Don't feel bad about disposing of baby boars if you've killed the mom. Cows on the other hand should be adorned with wreathes of roses and allowed to happily munch corn for the lovely things they give like milk, butter and paint.

Re: So... why do people think breeding pigs over sheep is better?!

It's easier to make a massive amount of pigs vs sheep. One row of corn = four pigs. It's easy to mass produce pigs unlike sheep but pigs have zero real value (since wolf breeding is annoying to do). I think people just breed them to breed them, not actually looking to ever use them.

Just shoot the bison and it despawns in two hours.

Re: So... why do people think breeding pigs over sheep is better?!

i think its because they seen sheep but they rarely seen pigs

if you don't know how it works, its just animals to you

wild pigs give you enough pig meat forever

you can actually let the bison out if its same biome, it wont follow you but can go out randomly if you fill every other tile

there is not a single reason why you would need bison inside the pen
find a small biome, leave it there, it wont move, later you can get cow piss
for cows you need 1x1 pen, no reason to create another cow every time you get a milk (not sure if its bug or its only 3 sec to give water every time to get more milk)

and don't put into same pen for fucks sake, it needs 5 walls when you attach a cow pen to sheep pen, is that so hard?

Re: So... why do people think breeding pigs over sheep is better?!

I know!!

Its really silly.

During the early afternoon people also don't really interact with other players. They just get on with it, no explanation. For example, I was a small boy in this village and needed clothes. so I saw snares, no-one using them, so Went to empty a basket full of ropes. Wasn't gonna use them, this lady said Leave them.

No explanation (Even like "Don't use rope" or some short sentence would have been fine). But she said no, put rope back in the basket and left. Bloody rude.  This is supposed to be like a survival/building civ for future gens game.. which involves teamwork. Which involves communication.

Jeez. Even the guys with the pigs i tried to explain to.

It would be totally worth it if there was more food options with pig meat. You got big fat pigs but you can't use the meat for anything.

Pork tacos don't require any pigs.  Wild boars can suffice.  Bean tacos don't require pork.

Cooked mutton or mutton pie, assuming it comes from sheep, requires a bowl of berries and a carrot to make and dough if necessary.  So, that's more than 1 soil and more than one bowl of water, but not much.

Pork tacos require two bowls of water to make the slacked lime, part of a bowl of soil for the corn kernels, soil for the dry beans to make cooked beans which requires water also since you need soaking beans, kindling for the forging fire, and kindling for the hot coals to cook the beans and a flat rock to make the corn tortillas from the masa dough.

But pork tacos do give you more pips than cooked mutton.  But, making mutton via sheep also can provide poop and fleece (for a ball of needle and thread for clothes or for medical treatment or other uses/abuses).

Wool can be clothing, pad, and ball of needle.
Sheep dung is essential to make a compost.
Pies made from lamb are portable and efficient.
I like pigs too, but there are few pigs in use
