futurebird goes to the darkside

So, I have to tell you all of the events that lead up to me stealing a horse for context. Because, part of it was I was in a baaaaad mood. I'm in a mostly nice 3rd gen camp that was making crakin' progress thanks to a sugarcane pen and generally nice people. As a girl I wander north and see tons of iron on the ground. We have no iron. I bring two back (I'm a kid gotta carry food) and ask a woman who has been standing by the fire feeding kids for her pack so I can get the rest. She's like "make your own" I'm like "I'll give it back, I just want to get iron" but she doesn't trust me and continues to stand by the fire with two pies in her bag. So, I'm thinking "I get it..." and go off to make my own, but I'm annoyed because I know I'll start having kids and the whole thing will be moot. I bring back enough rabbits for two packs, I bring back thread (no shears, because uh... no iron which I wanted to FIX but anyway) I look for a needle. There is none.

"where is the needle?" I ask no one. Same woman, still by the fire with two pies in her bag "make one"

Again I ask if I can use her pack... after all the supplies for TWO new ones are right by the fire thanks to me. She's just like "I'll make one."  Not the damned point lady. I want to get the iron before I have babies.

So, I make the needle and the pack and go to get the iron. Thankfully, but also kind of annoying I find that one of the other people has collected it all. So, I grab some more bunnies and wander to find more. Thankfully, don't have many kids. Then I wander a bit further and bump... into a town about our size, just a little large. They have a horse.

I stand there for a bit to see if anyone says "hi" or asks who I am, but no one really cares. So I get on the horse and ride off for the iron. I'm able to get a little, but not as much as I hoped. I stop by town and tell them about the other town. My daughter is like "ima raid them" she always seemed kind of evil. The "you can't use my backpack I have important things to do like stand by the fire" lady was still by the fire with two pies now too old to feed anyone. WHY?

oh no what have I started...

anyway. hold your horses. or something.

I'm glad you didn't go full darkside.   Too many emo people in the world as it is.

But I stole a horse! I've never even daydreamed about stealing anything. In truth I feel awful and will now get extra horses in hopes of repaying whoever's horse I took.

I wonder how my daughter's raid went? It's one think to ride out of town another to do it with a cart full of tools or whatever she was after. I wanted to stop her... but she learned it all by watching me. such a bad mother.

Re: futurebird goes to the darkside

+1 to the frustration of people not thinking of clothes as communal just because they are worn. I have had to slowly collect iron or adobe one basket at time many times meanwhile the nanny and her baby she is "guarding" like fort knox are fully clothed and packed up even though they are straddling a fire.

Its right up there with lack of communication amongst the camp. I had one life that i spent thirty minutes struggling to get rope to make a bow and get a goose for the file, as all local milkweed was gone and none grown. When i finally got back with everything, turns out someone was already working on that project and no one knew and half my life was wasted, well all of it because i suicided afterwards because i was down with that town.

Re: futurebird goes to the darkside

1. clickbait indeed

2. that's why i am repeatedly catching rabbits in towns & settlements

3. that's why i am repeatedly making about 6 new needles in towns

4. it's dangerous to give players the own backpack, because griefers, thieves, spoiled brats, ungrateful egoists

5. if you have to carry iron, stones, kindling, put four baskets into cart,
in the case mentioned it means you steal not only a horse cart but also four baskets lol
does that make you egoistic ? nope, you still steal it not for yourself but for your own kin
true egoists take it for themselves & only for them & for what they want to do alone, without care if it will benefit or hurt anybody else

Re: futurebird goes to the darkside

....I was your daughter. Did I really seem evil? What did I do?

Anyway, what you didn't see was that I couldn't find this town you spoke of. But I did find something better. I suspect this other town you took the cart from actually stole it from an even bigger, super advanced town further to the north west. It was a dead town and there were like ten horsecarts there. So I didn't end up robbing this town you made it to, I'm guessing you gave me phony directions to throw me off? I ended up taking a good amount of useless materials back from the abandoned town thought.

Don't feel bad futurebird, it's a harsh life out in the wild. You gotta do what you gotta do to keep your town alive. Also that woman who wouldn't give you the bag was a complete bitch to everybody. Came up to me demanding I get her rabbits at one point while I was fixing the pen.
