Mid to long term benefits are if they know what they are doing they serve as population control with the benefit of a positive net gain in productivity. If your civ has some females popping out children your population should remain relatively constant and not starve itself. If you have a disproportionate female population it's easy to stave yourselves when the next gen explosion happens on populated servers. Fewer women means less babies, which means stable population.

ok its true, but in my opnion the best birth control is good sense, know your surroundings, every village had or will go trough it some point, if not enough food, better one or some baby dead then all dead, poping the baby isnt a choice, but raising it is, i do belive that everyone should have the right to play, but this is part of the game, already happened to me in both ends, had to starve babies and starved myself as baby, and always when my ma tells me: sorry/ no food / die you bastard / come back in five minutes... i understand is for the greater good and i do not get frustrated

I disagree. As Nimue said, female can choose not to raise kids or even kill them. Overpopulation in only female city is not the greater problem then sex mixed city, when citizena already care about sustain.
There is no point in being man during current mechanics. Only roleplay.
I put some suggestion about making man actually useful in other thread, but it requires combat system.

Which is precisely why I said mid to long term benefits. Short term it makes sense to favor daughters and few children but once somewhat established it actually hurts the civ to have too many females over males because new and returning players will have an increased chance to spawn in camp. You could always just kill all the children but it gets a little insane after a while and you need some replacements for age population if you want to continue the civilization.
Edit: One fun thing to do is to try to survive as a male with a good mother hiding you. You can always come back later and slaughter the villagers that wanted you dead.

You say as a female you can just act as a male and let all your children die, and that is true. However that does generate a high number of baby corpses all over the place, which can get in the way, litter the ground and isn't good for morale. Worst case the babies die in the field and destroy crops.

It's really weird why some players hate males so much. Theres no point if they cant make babies? Thats it? or maybe it' s some weird conviction or trolling.
In my opinion, even a casual male is very useful, they can be really productive and are the best population control in village or city. You have 2-3 females, and other are men. You need to limit females. In this way you can protect from baby boom, which in so many cases works like plaque and destroys cities.
If i am in Eve stage, while setting up. I speak to them, I ask them are they new/casual/genius, and ask them if they can forage and trap rabbits. They are great for expeditions. Sometimes they die in the wild, sometimes they bring many needed rabbits and carrot seed.
In small village, or city. (before update, didn't find city after that) I myself enjoy being a male. You farm in early life, and after you look whats its needed. There's no rabbits for pies, you grab a cart and go for them, Bring couple full carts of home. Theres no plates, baskets, wood and other stuff, you can go and quickly bring it back with no interruption of babies. If everything goes right in 2/3 of your life you supply people with clothes and stuff for pie making. After that you just find replacement trapper lets say, and go do what you like. Like setting up another milkweed field, making soil or just something you like and is productive, or just go after some City guard duty when needet.
But thats just my point of view. Some people like keeping only girls and in some time baby boom happens. I go out for some time when there are 5-7 carts of carrots, some pies, working farm and comeback to 6-8 children running around and few baskets of carrots ...
Well...somehow from trying to write something constructive I went for a little rant. Just personal experiences from the game(mostly before last update).

new players as male perform better than female, when all starves out, males know the location of berries, they survive, happened often
and once my mom had only one daughter, 7 sons, we made more work than any female could do, i try to keep two daughters to be safe, but keep two-three boys if food is secure, once there are three females, someone should move or kill their second daughter, until tools are made, two fertile females at a time is just enough
today had like two runs in primitive cities
both times i survived alone, i had opportunity to restart civilization
ended up regretting to even play
from 9 kids had 8 die first time, we had berries around, farm was okay, last was a son, well thats it
second time like 7 died out of 9, she was good, she made my farm, dunno what happened later, so kids need to be smart, its not about gender, if you see he/she left click backpack, better let die, dont even give clothes, wait until it can take by their own
today i struggle with two babies, telling them to let the carrot seed, son takes one out of both rows, my first daughter quits
told him to come with basket of pouches, had my third kid meanwhile, that was the plan, a noob like him cant calculate hunger based on distance, so died
test every kid, can it follow, can it find hot spot? can it stay put? can it say feed
worst i seen, was one run when my aunt kept 13 kids asking them to bring food, they died trying, she eating everything, standing in fire with 9 rows of carrot down to four, even i starved at the end which is rare
with the new heat based pregnancy, males should have an interaction with females to set their temperature to ideal for like 2 minutes, "hugs"

I agree, males are very underestimated. I never achieved as much in one run as when I was a male. I made more tools, baked more pies and hunted more rabbits. I like playing both of course, it's just that there are different tasks based on the gender. As a female you are wise to stay close to base, like farm, bake , smith or something like that. Since females give birth it would be highly inconvenient for her to have a child while on a hunt for example. Males are much more free, they can travel farther and be more efficient with food. Females also lose many years on raising children. Even if you have only two, you most likely will watch them until they are five - ten years gone! Also, talking and naming takes time, feeding a child takes more food, and many females can not be left responsible with population control. They either let everyone live or no one at all.
It's hard to have an ultimate solution. I'd say, keep at least two daughters, since one of them could still die during childhood. And keep two sons for the same reason. Teach them everything. If they run away, let them. If they seem to be inexperienced, teach them. Explain them the rules. Give them a task. But don't kill boys just because. Boys have value too.

Males get WAYYYY more shit done, you can go on runs to get stuff without lil folks popping out of ya all the time.
