In other news, I'm still doing some remodel stuff at our house for one more week, but my family has headed back home to start packing.... so we're getting close!
When Jason says "so we're getting close!" what period of time do you refer to?
6 months?
1 year?
3 years?
never?

I assume moving to a new house is exactly like having a baby, so we are in the third trimester now. Since it started some time in December, we can expect to see the birth of a new update by August or September, if all goes well.
Hopefully August so it isn't delayed getting into kindergarten.

I would say as close as 3197 is to 10,000

If I had photo-shop skills, this would be the perfect excuse to make a Jason Rohrer/Where's Waldo mash-up.
But I have no photo-shop skills. :'-(

It's July 2nd, 2021. On October 4th 2020, Jason made this post: http://onehouronelife.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=10169 informing us that he was looking for a new house, 'potentially', which I think would have only had meaning if he had felt it appropriate to believe that the wilfires wouldn't become an issue again. That's when he *posted* about such. So, it's not unreasonable to believe that he had started the search process at least 2 days earlier.
So, I don't agree, it's not like the third trimester. It's more like at or soon or already past the due date, if you want to invoke that frame of reference. Or "past/almost past the due date" is more precise and accurate than "in the third trimester", if anything past the due date is in the third trimester.
Also, the pregnancy period would have to be an appropriate metaphor. I don't know how many companies or universities would be satisfied with someone taking that long of a leave in their position, and looking at information about sabbaticals it says this:
"If you want to go ahead and formally request a sabbatical, it is vital that you tell your boss what benefits your career break will bring to the company (apart from your unswerving loyalty!)."

Fun Fact - did you know that elephants have the longest gestation periods of any mammal? The average elephant pregnancy lasts roughly 95 weeks or almost two years!
So I guess that we now have scientific proof that Jason is moving to a really big house.

Psh, a big house? More likely a 7x7 meter square. We all know thats plenty of space to live in, right? Anything bigger than that is unreasonable and inefficient. 529 square feet is enough space for an entire village to live and work in.

since he is his own boss, i guess he can tell himself the benefits...

It's Jasons time. A day like a thousand years and the other way around. Its almost like Elon time. Basically you never know. Expect the unexpected. Be prepared for never only to be positively surprised when it finally happens.

Just a heads-up that the game is currently 50% off during the Summer Steam sale (ending July 8th). We can expect an influx of newer players in the next five days or so. Be gentle.

Maybe in a couple of years Jason would’ve developed a fully functioning Jason Dev AI with Project December to take over his dev responsibilities. It’ll revive the game since the appearance of the very first AI indie game developer will bring in many headlines and in turn, massive player interest.
For the time being, I think we have enough content.

You're right DestinyCall, I didn't mean to spoil anyone's fun
I hope that we will get new updates shortly

I am a dirty, dirty roleplayer. I roleplay in the game, sometimes on the forum and if I'm being honest, a bit in real life. I can't help myself. I'm a dirty, dirty roleplayer. Don't hate the player, hate the game.

It is so beautiful and so wrong at the same time.
Thank you, good sir.

Maybe a rebranding effort by Jason would help clear up the confusion...might I suggest "One Year One Update" as a name change? Kappa
