Hey everyone!
One player told me we dye white clothes to prevent their decay. I was told by another player today that white undyed clothes don't decay.
Any idea who's telling the truth?
If white clothes do decay where do we find this info?
If they do decay, how much quicker than dyed?

they do not decay. Cloths dissapear because people wander out of town and die with them.
dyed cloths tend to be returned just as a fluke of psychology, if you're wearing white cloths and happen across a dyed clothing corpse you're more likly to swap out the cloths.
it used to be a thing for wool cloths I heard once, but that is no longer the case.

To know, you check onetech.info. (Which is generated straight off the game code).
So, search for Sealskin Coat. Notice the diagram that says [5hrs]+[Sealskin Coat]=[Rag Shirt].
Now search trousers and notice it does not have any relationship like that. By absence, that is saying they last forever.
I wouldn’t doubt it if they used to decay at some point during this game’s development. A lot of things have been changed over time and some info is hard to purge from the collective consciousness. Especially if new people learn from watching old Twisted videos from times when things were literally different (like I did).
FYI:
Berry bushes *do not* grow back when one berry is left on it. Pick’em clean to let the cycle progress.

You should check your links at the bottom of your foekm messages. I think this player might have been referring to dyeing wool sweaters that are close to decaying to update there decay transition timer?

why dont white clothes decay? thats my question. Jason should punish towns more for abandoning the tech tree and becoming reliant on the work of old generations.

It takes 72 berries and 12 carrots to make a short and pants. x20 for your village you're looking at 1440 berries and 240 carrots. That's about 27 buckets of water. Not even considering backpacks hats or shoes. I don't think it would be enjoyable gameplay for clothing at such expensive tiers to decay. The issue with dyed clothing is it relies heavily on family specialization. Green clothes for example you will need the jungle and desert families to make which is also not fun gameplay.
