Re: We need a code letter!

we need some rules, and soem compulsory tutorials to be read, and to be agreed upon and change the code, by using the new code, you acknowledge that you accept it, also that you have read the articles and you know about them
shouldnt be too strict, cause peopel play differently
for example:
- once you are big enough tell your user name/ chosen nickname, well this could be abused, but at the start you dont have a reason yet to trick people, even if everyone would tell he is joriom, most people wouldnt care or know, maybe less anonimity would improve peoples attitude
- never kill with no reason, first try to talk and warn someone, not to do such an action if irritates you
then some basic game knowledge:
never settle on a green biome, find water, move the soil to water, not the water to the soil
never destroy the map, by cutting trees around

and then  the letter, i dont want to be the ambassador of this, i still think is a good idea, and most people gonna know from this or other topic, not by seeing in game others do it

shouldnt be too strict as i said, like not picking carrot from open field, is stupid, if you starve you do it 99% of time
if you put a fence around it, most people realize its fr seed or they just dont bother opening two fences to get a carrot

it should be brief, simple, most important stuff

Re: We need a code letter!

I think if we can develop good well use culture that should be part of it. Each well is a water
every 5 min if we can manage them, that is basically a carrot plot what with harvest and pimping
and seeding time..

I taught a village to ping the wells once.. well some of them anyways. Maybe they will be more
prosperous. Any TRULY big city will need to use water better than we do currently. It is just hard
but it can be done so we can do it.

Re: We need a code letter!

I've been succesfully using my "From A to Z how good ar you?" method in order to know what to teach to whom...it reduces the selecting by forum debates, and it gives you as a mother more time to organise. If you have a Z baby, they will know to stay in good temp and you'll have time to run around untill they starve, or if you have the time you can teach a begginer the ropes, etc.

I still think the best solution to the wells is making the wells difficult to access, but the cisterns easily accessible to the plebs. For example, instead of having a wall, you have a line of cisterns. The wells room could potentially have a key that is passed on. Let's say you have a big population of 20 people, and 100-150 bushes, you'd need around 15 wells. You could have a well-keeper, who trains an apprentice in their last 10 mins of life, then passes the key to them.

To be fair though, you'd need about 150 tiles for pie storage if you had a population that big, so I doubt we'll ever see a city of that magnitude without a storage solution.

I like that, I'm stealing your idea.

Re: We need a code letter!

I ask them if they want to live or be part of our family.

I ask them if they want to help us, I show them around the town and I tell them
what I think isn't going right with the town and what we need to do about it. I ask
them if they have x skill and try to find something they can do they understand.
Failing that I tell them to be my apprentice.

Maybe just parenting the damn kids isn't such a horrible idea..
