We know that villages are more far away than before.
But we used to make roads, even if it leads no where. We should keep it going on. Send kids make some roads when they are enough old. Make two or three empty tiles between each stone/woode
That makes more trade places, places to run when your village starves, snatch girls in other villages to always have enough vagenes. I once ruled on 3 towns, maybe you could do it too once. Get objectives !

Is it possible to interact with roads? I thought they just got culled..
Perhaps wooden posts, they don't need the middle log I think if people who use the paths just touch the poles along the way, they should stick around for the next traveler.
If they snake out in cardinal directions Eve's are likely to find our villages.

you can set a direction with two diagonal flatstones next to a wooden tile
i would like to have more fences near roads, once you got no poosey juice, your best chance is going with horse, also this allow to get stuff to town and stop for munching, people dont get dont use horses often enough

To build a road that makes sense you need to know where other place is. To know that - you need to find it first and bring this information back to the oryginal town. If travel takes more than one lifetime you would need to pass this knowledge to your kid and hope for him to bring it back.
Possible? Yes.
Viable? No.
The only way I can see roads being usefull now is though expansion. You find a second place which can support a decent size family - you bootstrap it and start building road there while having people already live there. But then, still - both places would be the same lineage without belltowers so they would compete for kids - so they would start fighting. Or they could build belltowers to attract eves from nearby. This way belltowers might become usefull. More lineages in the same spot - the higher chance for kids.

well, its a nifty trick when you lag, that you see a white wall, unloaded map part, thats always there, so building inside it, or middle of it would be viable, also put some fence on each, strategic zones like berry bushes, soil pits, eventually anything temporary will empty, but still
once i been in a city between snow, it was okay, but too many kids who always ended up dead, so had tons of bones, born back few times so i knew that trough the snow there is a green biome, almost untouched, one game my marker was cut, bell rang, and cut trough the wrong way, didnt find my way back, but around 4-5 screen length away i found a small camp, made fences and died, was a noob camp with a few wells, but died out, later i born back above that and recognized the camp in south
was so nice being there but i still dont know where the two cities were relative to each other, had a few games when a small camp was so close to others but you didnt had time to pass trough, once i been in baby factory near desert, then found a nice camp across desert, later far south found a complete dead city with stuff, i think best is to signal with branches or flatstones
