yes but still this implicates that make shovel first before cutting the reet or you might waste all the adobe from them

i seen nice cactus walls, maybe i can incorporate it sometime soon in a design

also seen a few of this designs lately, im happy that people use it

some people still missing the point:
having a pen and sheep inside makes a real city a city
as you get clothing that lasts forever, as far as i know
also rideable horses which makes the surroundings more accessible

so it would be polite not to take the rope and the berry bowl away to put on a pie or whatever stupidity people do
bow, rope, berry bowl with carrot, do not touch, 3x3 is perfectly fine at start, the sooner the better

and do not make pies out of wild wheat and bitch about if somebody cooks the rabbits, its still better than waiting you to wait others to make a pie which only feeds some adults with pack

people tend to stuck in phase two: smithign basic steel tools, making carts

mainly because no one spends time on planting milkweed, berries. also no one seems to pick branches which is kinda as important as farming, even if you cannot make fences, next generation can if enough branches around. i see people wasting the axe on firewood to make kindling, i really wonder what most people do in bigger camps, cause most females just pop out kids at max and no result other than food and water is less and less

I think the trash pit sheep pens are obsolete now. I was in a town and they all spawned and we lost all our sheep.

Btw I saw a Sheep Pen made from unfinished Kilns today.

I guess it makes sense, as it's much cheaper than normal adobe and doesn't even require steel.
It's not a permanent solution, but it's a cheap and fast solution.

dunno, maybe design error, ours worked, was pretty big

yes, i seen also, suggested in first place, did a few so far, also doesnt use any stakes

shovel is still good to have

I think this is one of the good ways, they last a decent amount of time and you can bring back the materiel in baskets.

lady went missing, her kid was watering fields from fresh well when two already dry, told her to count how many takes, she starved with basket in hand
next baby i seen dropped back to suicide
town went extinct soon

went out getting some fence and adobe and made a pen, got sheep, wormed the fields and planted some berr, made a proper deep well, died old age, if someone finds it, can be a proper city fast, exept the well walls which i never liked, people tend to leave too little space around farms

i think someone does, some eves spawn right inside cities
always wanted to make cactus walls you can munch it while working with sheep

one nice design i seen yesterday was a door in front entrance, just as home markers were
as you cannot put items down in door entrance, the three thrash pits blocked sheep, also if you closed it from inside, you can open only from inside, was a huge digged pen one offset and the diagonal entrance was leading there, the corners werent finished and they just didnt let me put thrash pits there so i never finished, instead i died in the pen cause i sheared the one in front of entrance xD

two more tips:
if somehow sheep got out, you can lure back. if they got lambs they run away so you are on opposite side, if they dont, they follow so you stand next to target tile
never kill the domestic muflon! release free or just leave it be, it cant be sheared, so you always got lambs, wont worth to kill for 1 space and the hide. if you release free when you got the second bowl with berry and carrot, you can rope the lamb and feed inside, griefers may destroy your pen, may kill all sheep, this helps getting back easier, they might miss out on domestic muflon, also they need bow and knife to kill everything

well, yes, part of, there was a permanent sheep topic, and yours, and small bits of information
i think i covered well the how and the why, after the topic i seen people doing it more often
especially after the update it was most important step in farming, with less soil and colder biomes,
the faster you get into dung making, the better, you make one compost, you can make one wheat,
one carrot, one berry, one sapling farm

also the saddle to go outside, permanent clothes. one of my favorite thing to do the next big thing in a city, which usually is the pen or smithing, or getting a horse
i remember doing the first time, i was slow, i was bad at it, nowadays 20 min of my life and im done, the whole thing is done, i can even make tools after, and people are getting better as well, i seen pens of 11x11 in size, adobe base pens, wells incorporated as blocking. Doors opening from inside only.

I can always identify the town by the sheep pen, they are unique mostly.

new trick i seen by somebody:
rabbit bone
cook a rabbit when making an entrance, drop left to the pit you want to convert, then right, then swap with first bone it produces, drop into pit, pick up, drop, swap drop, etc. you can fill it very fast without a need for leaf or other garbage
it will despawn but produces unlimited bones so just make the entrances first

I made a trash pit sheep pen today, with home markers one space diagonal from the corners, and I had a lamb FLY across my screen over the two tiles and right into its eating animation on a patch of carrots, then it flew right back into the pen. It was mid-transition, and scared the shit out of me. You know how it has that hopping animation as it transitions? It was in that animation as it flew over two tiles, and it looked like the craziest ass sheep ever.

dont forget the blocking tile, the home marker/filled pit is for your entrance, as they cannot stand on it, but you need a tile which blocks their diagonal movement after the pit/marker.
i was also telling this, lambs can go further than sheep, sheep seems to go only 2 diagonally, lambs go 3 or more

your city is dead and bones lying around? no adobe or stone to make a proper, good looking pen? no fences either? thrash pits just wont appeal to you?
dont panic, collect the bones of your children, get a shovel, make a boneyard pen! flatstones and letters recommended, to make it permanent, you will always have material to extend!

question, which letter is cheapest? surely the dead wont mind if you bury them with wrong letter

flatstones can be removed so its not good until letters, but then you cna store items in the wall and take it out from outside, like a mini box

U only requires one sapling but you have to put it in simmering water.

About two weeks ago after my mother Eve abandoned me, I discovered that babies can stand behind a muflon and click it. The muflon will then move 4 tiles to the opposite direction. I was able to direct the muflon in whatever way I wished until I starved. I later tried this as an adult and it no longer worked. So as far as I know, babies can push around muflons and maybe that can be useful for capturing them? I haven't tested this out since, and maybe it does not work anymore.

muflons can be "pushed" as long as there is no obstruction ahead, they move 2 tiles i think, exept if blocked they run sideways or random, but if you got no trees you can push home, not sure on muflons with lamb, different rules, they just run away

also somebody said that you can rope a lamb if you keep the screen on edge , once the big muflon runs out screen rope the lamb and is yours, did once but cant really reproduce

today also somewhy muflon doessnt cross biome border

U is better then, 17 sapling for a 3x3 pen, and 17 bones, seems doable with a sapling farm, its 4 compost and one extra sapling to make a grave pen

yes wit flatstones is 1 click to release sheep, but with double walls is accident proof, no letters needed and can be expanded, i believe there is enough flatstone in some bigger deserts, can even wall an entire city off or make a room for carrot farm, etc.
if graves form walls instead cubes, you can block animals out as well

Not long ago, I made a 3 * 3 fence and rabbit bone swap in town.
