Ok so I just died and I was living in this kinda big village and we were doing pretty good and the this griefer comes along (her name was Bella Gerten) and picks the seed row WHILE LAUGHING might I add. And when I call her out on it she says "I'm new" "I just started today" but no one was having her bullsh*t. So then she starts cutting down ALL the trees around the village and I'm so done with her at this point so I tell everyone that I'm gonna try to make a knife and when I stab her they all need to know who's the bad guy. So I have everyone on my side and then I'm just gonna go get some berries to eat south before I get started and A RATTLESNAKE KILLS ME and I never get my revenge... I really hope that they are making a knife right now and that they'll kill her... I'm gonna watch the family tree and HOPE that they get her...

That was me and I actually was new. To tell you the truth I got pretty frustrated with this game. In most of my lives so far I have been left to die over and over. I've even been killed in a big place, My mum just said she was "Busy".

One time I was asked if i was new, I said yes and A man repeatedly picked me up and my didn't bother feeding me

So then I end up in your town, I still have no clue how to play. So I accidentally ate the wrong thing and I had insults thrown at me and you guys assembled a lynch mob against me. I'm sorry but HOW THE FUCK WAS I SUPPOSED TO KNOW. Nobody ever told me anything, Am i expected to know everything.

So i got mad and ate your carrots on perpose. Then I grabbed an axe and cut some trees and starved in the woods. I apologize for what happened but you shouldn't treat new people like this.

I understand that it's hard to get started on this game (even if I haven't experienced it myself) but you have to be patient. The key is to ask people and if they ask you not to do anything then it's best to listen. There are also crafting guides on the wiki if you're having trouble with that, it can be really helpful at times. The reason people get so angry is that they've worked so hard to t.ex. protect the seed row, and in their eyes, you're just some idiot who just storms in and eats everything.

But I'm not totally sold on your story because, as I said, after you ate all the carrots you said, and I quote; "Haha" "Rekt". That doesn't sound like it was an accident to me... and to then go on a rampage and cut down all of our trees is not something I'd think a player who is new to the game would do if you're not trying to grief. And another point; while running away you said that you "Just started playing today/yesterday" and I doubt a player that new would even know how to use an ax for example.

So for all I know, you could just be a griefer pretending to be new.

Edit: Also, as you can see on the family tree, your last words were "Rekt" which proves my claim earlier.

I get why your pissed, I just don't think this game is very kind to new people. Especially when none of the so called hardworkers were willing to teach the new children anything. Veterans might not need teaching but how many of kids are really going to be veterans?.

I've seen the anti noob sentiment around and it worries me. How can I learn anything if no town takes new players. Isn't it better then the long run to teach new plyers like me instead of letting us die.

I might be a burden but I'll learn a little after each life but only if I'm given a chance.

First of all; you almost completely ignored all my arguments about you not actually being a new player and just griefing. And yes, this game IS very "hostile" against new players but griefing in protest isn't gonna help. You need to take matters into your own hands and not blame everything on other players, we don't have time to teach noobs how to play the game. One way is to join an empty server and try to learn on your own, or you could join a modified server like 2 hours one life where you have a longer life and therefore it's easier to learn. And if you want to play the game you have to learn HOW first, don't just rage quit because it's not going your way, that's kinda what this game is about.

If you take on a griefing attitude nobody will bother to teach you.

The best thing you should do when you're old enough is go to the farm and ask "seed?", someone there will point out which ones you shouldn't pick from if there isn't already someone saying "X location seed" when new kids turn up at the farm. From there just watch what other people do and if someone asks you to do something you don't know how to just ask if they can teach you. There's usually always at least one old man around willing to teach kids how to make pies.

Sounds like you knew enough to know that eating from the fields and chopping down the nearest trees, would be an annoyance. Huh? Where or how'd you learn that? Theres obviously a source of knowedge you're tapping. Could it be that knowing what not to do can be just as important of information as what to do?

Sorry that I'm not good enough for your towns. Why do you people get so angry at something like eating the wrong carrots, it's a common mistake not griefing.

I don't know how I'm supposed to convince everyone I'm new. I'm considering asking for a refund but I'm going to try for a bit longer.

You have to be careful with what you do. We're not rude, just telling the truth. Don't do things you don't know about. And I think that you're the rude one here, most of the people who live in villages know what they're doing and if they get angry at you it's probably because you made a mistake that was easily avoidable.

Meh, neither of your stories line up. If you eat seed carrots and chop down trees while laughing about it and telling people
to get wrecked you are a troll and it makes sense they killed you in game. That is why there is murder in game after all..

If that isn't what you did, maybe you are wrong and you are not the same guy. There isn't really any good way to know if
one or both parties are lying so it doesn't really matter what the truth is anymore. It is in tree falls alone in a forest territory.

Killing all the new people is not good practice, nor is starving out all your babies. People gonna be pissed when people just
leave them to die over and over or kill them for not being good enough. They only get to play as Eve, trial and erroring your
way to fire and carrot farming as Eve would take AGES..

Dude, I wish you awesome luck, and you definitely have the right to play. (Snarkiness and weird, aggressive coded messages notwithstanding. )

But, assuming what happened is exactly what you say it was, there's a reason people got super upset at you. Eating the carrots that are meant to provide seeds for the next harvest can flat-out, no joke, kill an entire civilization. I've seen massive famines that killed off most of a village due to people eating seed carrots. Whether it's out of ignorance, or deliberate mischief, or just plain carelessness, the result is the same. They weren't upset because they hate newbies and like giving people a hard time for not knowing things, they were upset because you did something that could literally doom everyone.

The thing about this game is, it requires some real patience. It can be really hard to learn just the basics of the game, in terms of how to make and use stuff, never mind important emergent things like why you need to ask which carrots you're not allowed to pick. And it can be hard to get people to explain stuff to you. Some people don't want to be bothered, usually because time is short and they have other things they want to do. Some would be happy to, but are too busy trying not to starve (and this can be true even in a big town, especially if someone's picked all the seed carrots!). Some are still pretty new themselves, and won't feel like they have any business trying to teach others. Even when people do try, the limit on how much you can type and how often you have to stop and eat can make it difficult. But there are people who will help, if you are patient about finding them, ask nicely, and don't get upset and act like a griefer.

I would say: don't be reluctant to tell people you're new. Some mothers will decide they don't want to deal with that and abandon you as an infant. That's probably for the best. You likely wouldn't survive very long with them anyway, and they don't want to or don't have the ability to teach you. Have patience until you find someone who's willing to help. Likely you'll learn a little bit at a time, life after life, until you start to feel like you have a decent grasp of things. (I mean, hey, rough lesson and all, but you've already learned about seed carrots, right?) Consulting the wiki, or even maybe watching some videos of gameplay, can also help a lot, if you're not the kind of purist (or masochist!) who insists on learning everything in-game.

If you don't have the patience for all of that, or if you're too prone to letting your temper get the best of you like this when you don't understand something or accidentally piss people off, this may not be the best game for you. But if you're willing to accept that there's a steep learning curve and that things are going to be rough for a while until they get smooth, you might find yourself feeling good once you've gotten over the hump.
