I followed the instructions here: http://onehouronelife.com/compileNotes.php?nocounter=1
and managed to load the game, but I get this fps mismatch error in the initial login screen after loading.
Not sure if this is connected, but when upacking with pullAndBuildLatest, all the files were dumped into my home folder
any help appreciated

When I tried to run it in virtual box I got that error as well.
I am curious as well.

did you contact the boss man?

Nah, I just assumed that virtual box was too slow. That was my same ubuntu version.
It took AGES to load, it said I was getting like 1-2 FPS. I had been working on it for maybe ~5 hours at that point and I just said fuck this.

are you using a 75htz monitor by chance? i had that issue too. had to 75 to the file for possible framerates and then add 75 to the file for target framerate. everything works fine now.

The fps gets close to 60 then switches to the login screen where I get the mismatch error red at the top

Go to your settings folder and change these 3 files:
1: Change targetFrameRate.ini to 144
2: skipFPSMeasure.ini to 1
3: countingOnVsync.ini to 0
that will allow you to bypass this issue.

I don't have targetFrameRate.ini in the settings folder - i do have halfFrameRate.ini and possibleFrameRates.ini
no countingOnVsync.ini either

ok, so skipFPSMeasure.ini to 1" was enough, but now I get stuck in the next step -
failed to update: move game folder somewhere that is not read-only
So I guess I do have to solve the issue of it all being dumped in my home folder.
I already tried before, to copy everything into another folder inside "home", just to remove the clutter. didn't do anything.

Should I rerun ./pullAndBuildLatest and add something to the command so it builds to another folder?

Solved - I followed all the instruction above, just with using the build file from the linux tar and not the unix one...
Thanks!

I got: "please update to latest version"
Couldn't do it through sudo apt-get install OneLife App
downloaded the file again, hoping it would be the latest version.
Now the build file isn't there when I unpack, and the version file reads 57 inside (the first time I tried this it read 104, then I deleted everything and downloaded again)
