Drawing Contest

Hey Guys!

Maybe there are some of you that like to draw. Maybe there are also people that like to learn how to draw (me)
Since we are all connected by one thing - our beloved game and of course the CACTUS GOD.

We could make a OHOL Drawing Contest where we draw in the OHOL style and each contest we would face a new thing to draw.

For example one week the thing to draw is a "Lama". Everyone that participates draws a lama and after the contest there will be a voting on which lama is the coolest. The most voted Objects get a special place in a gallery and maybe Jason or mod publishers are in love with one of the drawings and it will be used as an ingame objects.

There are two videos on Jasons Youtube Channel where you get a small view how he is doing the drawing, why he draws the body parts separated and what pens he uses.

Maybe Jason could give us more detailed information about the drawing process and his pro tips.

I would be interested if you guys like the idea, if you have any improvements and how many of you can draw or like to learn it and if you would like to take part in the contest?

Contest is great!

I'm probably not going to accept artwork into the game.... it's really important that the whole thing is drawn by the same hand for consistency.

So, don't worry about scaling and stuff like that.

But here's a bit of info:

I draw the lines first with a Uniball Vision Micro pen.

Then I use a light table (tracing table) to trace the outline of the lines (to define soild areas) and then color those outlines. I use Tombow brush markers to color.

After scanning, the lines can be merged on top of the colors by using a multiplicative blend in Photoshop or GIMP.

I guess the consistency aspect is true, but I think for mod publishers it would be a great help. So some extra informations about scaling and what else would be great!

But it seems no one likes drawing here Anyways I will give it a try

Tiles in the game are 128x128.

I draw/scan at 72dpi.

I made a 128x128 grid at 72dpi and printed it out as a template, so that's about 4.5 cm square on paper.

Are you experienced?

I think we should start the drawing contest on 28.05.18, so everyone got enough time to prepare. (Get some pens, make template, etc.)
The Theme of each contest will be released on Monday. Untill the following saturday 23:59 UTC the drawers got time to finish and send in their masterpieces.
Drawings can be send in to this E-Mail-Adress: OHOL-DrawingContest@web.de

On sunday all the send in drawings will go online in the forum. They will be uploaded to an CloudService and the forum users can vote 8 days long in a poll which masterpiece will make it into this thread as the winner of the weekly contest.

The drawings should match the OHOL style. But ofc bring your own style into them!
On my side I will try to draw the objects like Jason(See Youtube Video in the first post) so mod publishers can use them for their mods. You dont need to do that.

Is this okay for you guys? Something I forgot? Is one week enough to draw something?

Edit: For the first contest the theme will be "Llama" so you can all sharpen now your drawing skills untill the weekly contest starts.

So. I never really draw in my life. I just had to do it in school and I didnt liked it.
But now I am a little bit older and I want to learn it and improve it.
This is my first try ever to draw something. This is also not my finished version of the LLama, just a little motivation maybe for anyone out there to sign in for the contest.
Unfortunatly it seems that my LLama was involved in an car accidend it lost one leg and it seems it hit the car with its head. But I like it

Lol a car accident Llama, brilliant. Love the idea by the way, not entirely sure if I'll be able to participate myself, however I'd like to see plenty of people join in so I can look through the art styles. And of course this is great for modders like Sam.

Meanwhile I'm not participating in the drawing contest.
But it's pretty fun to try drawing in someone else style and I never draw a llama too lol, so I decided to try it out a bit!
Will there be llama for the game in the future? If yes then omgosh it'll be so awesome, I love llamas! (Kuzco is one of my fav character)
