there is a lot of anti-male bias amongst some people. As if they are useless. Certainly, a shitty player who is female may live long enough to produce a child who is a competent player. And a truly incompetent male accomplishes nothing.

But if you're good and actually care, males are extremely crucial to colony survival.

I'm a pretty big gatherer in general, because it is under done, as a male I usually just do a shitload of grindy gathering, and do basic things to stop a food crisis while living in the brush.

But the big thing to do, is just make backpacks for all the women, because it's massively easier to avoid starvation with a backpack. And trapping rabbits ain't that hard.

Anyway, main point: good male players are crucial to colony survival. Esp if you're willing to adopt abandon kids as a man. (just hang out by berry bushes.)

usually as a male i tent to either hunt or do water runs for the village.
there is a surprising amount of people who seem to think that they can just laze around the camp/settlement all day just eating this isnt a specific male problem but at the very least females give birth.
i agree with you OP males should mainly focus on out of camp stuff

well I mean historically that's what men are for. I'm not much of a hunter, but i mean gathering seal skins is a great male task. Just the ability to live a long time without eating is super valuable for expeditions.

I had a game where the land the family spawned near was already wasted, and I ran all over looking for a new home, and found one, and then when I finally got home and told them I knew where to lead them i ran right over a rattlesnake! One of my most frustrating deaths.

I don't understand it either. I like the challenge of raising all my kids, for better or worse. If you're a woman you might have 3-4 kids at once and then you're really limited in what you can do. Why would you not want some people who can go search and gather resources without worrying about babysitting? I'd rather have 1 or 2 solid daughters who can continue the lineage and like 8 men who can focus on getting shit done. One or two solid rabbit hunters will crank out a ton of clothes, which is a great leg up for settlement's children.

Agreed that the anti male bias of the game is completely over the top! (And I say that as someone who is in fact a woman in real life, so no butt hurt there lol).

I really love rabbit trapping but as a woman it can be almost impossible to be a decent trapper, so I always use my male lives to be worlds best rabbit hunter. Also love doing long expeditions and living the hermit life- particularly when you come from a village big enough to have a spare cart.

Generally male lives are also the best ones for figuring out a new skill as you don't have the distraction of babies popping out of you every 5 seconds.

Ironically the only 2 times I've been a wolf/mouflon hunter have been when I was a women.... but also the worlds shittiest mother. Definitely a job more suited to the male games aha *flashbacks to accidentally shooting my own newborn son*

The anti-male bias dates back to when the game was more difficult and the populations were low. With a low and insecure (lots of starvation) population you want a higher ratio of girls, since if you can only have 4 people you don't have much room for error, and the player would be able to respawn back, but hopefully as a girl within a matter of a minute or two anyway.

Now with the lineage ban and the easier difficulty, man-hating is reserved for those who haven't played in awhile and haven't learned the current meta. You only need 1-4 berry bushes per person currently, so there's not really any reason to watch your population.

i kinda move half of the items in a city

today i had a run when i asked a guy to help me, as i made like 30 bowls and plates, and i got tons of food, iron and stuff, i seen like 4 generations die before me, the guy lured the bear in city when he shot him once, then second time, i dont even know if i left the hammer head at home, died to bear at 57, was back to original position and it scared me, but most probably they die before extending the farm

when 90% of items were made/modified by me as a male, then you wonder why would we need more than 3 females
most womans i see in game barely walk to the edge of the screen, i scout the surrounding 15 biomes
as female every time i go out i pop a kid

When son to an Eve I usually fetch food while young, and set up camp as I get older. Eve has to focus on raising the babies anyway, and I hope her seeing me work teaches her how it's done. Sadly, most players die and I'm more often than not left alone as the sole male in the camp I worked so hard to build.

If I'm male in a village I'm super cautious for the inevitable murderer. I try and keep the town organized, watering languishing berry bushes and getting plates back to the bakery, hunting rabbits for backpacks. I build a sheep pen if there isn't one, or expand the berry farm if there's already sheep. I try and keep on the move so I'm not an easy "culling the herd" target.

I find it's often the women around the fire that become murderers when they see nothing but babies all over and are bored of feeding them with nothing else to do. I wish they wouldn't murder, since most of those babies die from incompetence anyway. The murder spree usually goes overboard and there's only menopausal women left and the town dies.

I usually get proposed to as a male and spend the rest of my life getting my wife treasures from faraway places.

If not, usually assume the position of “protector” or told to smith. Smithing as fertile female is hard. Also allows me to explore outside of camp without having to worry about bringing babies back to camp whenever I set foot out.

^lol. I do think there should be more content in terms of hunting, or perhaps higher complexity in the task; generally one or at most two trappers should be enough to suffice for one village. This task is relatively easy, but the use of it is limited severely by abundance of milkweed for both Snares and clothing. Then there's resource scouting which is basically just exploring and that's pretty much it.

In every task that doesn't require venturing outside of the base being a woman has no downside. Hell, female characters could even do the trapping and let some babies die everytime they do, eventually keeping 1 girl alive still making them a more productive member of the society in question as a whole.

Women are good for smithing and farming and baking etc. None of which require you really forage deep outside of camp.

With lineage ban it is kinda rude to be out on your horse-cart ditching peeps in the woods, then they don't get to live in the big city for hours </3
