Re: bears out

Stupid people and griefers, that's who (every griefier is stupid, but not necessary the other way).  Just don't make camps close to caves.  No way to defend early on, except luring bear out. But that's usually after it kill haft of the people.

thats what happend.

I got a few out after they ate half of the people. And the other one I shot, but then one guy came just when I wanted to shoot the last arrow and then I got eaten.... All the camps were in really good spots, because of the bears it was a hugh troughback and all happend in such a short time.

Re: bears out

There should be a way to lure bears back into their caves. Maybe throwing some sort of raw meat in the cave. (Skinned Rabbit/Plucked Goose/Raw Mutton + Bear Cave = Retreating Bear)

To prevent further luring the meat should “calm” the bear for an hour, allowing a society to recover between intervals and prevent further griefing from occurring.

Edit: second paragraph, “bras” to “bears”

Or even just kill the bears in the caves so no more come out?

You can kill them. You can lure them away just by walking. It's fine. Just don't make eve's camp next to bear's cave - that's just asking for trouble early on.

Re: bears out

Making a bow and three arrows is no easy task for early Eves who are prey to their suiciding babies.

Luring a bear away isn’t easy. Takes a large chunk of life out to do so sufficiently. And there’s the risk of death. Someone can lure it back, and it may come back on its own anyway.

I still think the mischief that people cause makes the game more interesting.
People are chaotic and not always helpful, it would be boring if it was only ever backs together against the world all the time.
Or at least it would be a different game if that was so.
I think the presence of in game 'evil' as it were gives it spice.
Sure you don't want it to be too OP to be evil, cause then there is no space for the other ways.

I think the ideas you had about luring the bear away somehow is cool, more than one way to deal with problems is fun gameplay.
Some bears IRL are tamed, or at least a little tamed. That could be fun... think WARBEARS smile

What if we could drop a large stone on a bear cave to seal it?

You already can do that. Well, kind of - it's hard to control weapon of mass destruction. In one game when griefers were taking over the town and I was too young to hold a knife, I warned people near farm and lured in a bear. I actually managed to kill one of the griefers this way wink

What if you could use a bear hide + mutton on a cave to get a tamed bear? You use the skin for a bear saddle then you can ride it into battle smile...

I once saw a cluster of twelve caves and some more around. I think a Maschine gun turret would be a  good thing ;P

Yes, that's the correct way to render bears harmless. Fed bears don't hunt and kill players.
obj_631.png + obj_569.png => obj_645.png
Bear + Mutton => Fed Bear

You can make a Fed Bear angry and homicidal again by shooting it.
