The Journey -- this is what you're looking for, Ross!

I was born in a decent-sized town, with sheep and farms and whatnot. I was named Frey, and I decided to take on the job of shepherd. For the first twenty or so years of my life, this is where I remained; feeding the sheep, shearing them, feeding them, shearing them - the cycle went on. It was so boring, so tedious. Until I found the bow.
One day I found a bow, and I decided that now I would be a hunter. I was excited and looked for arrows, but there was no string. Always, I would see unfinished arrows, missing only string. So I looked around for milkweed, but instead I found something far better. It was a corpse, along with a mouflon fur, a wolf hat, a backpack and two arrows. I was delighted! Eagerly, I snatched up the loot and ran back to the town. My bow had not been moved. Happily, I wandered around town, showing off my new gear. Then I prepared to leave town.
And gave birth to my first child. He was very sweet and chatted to me throughout his childhood. I named him Chandler and took him on a tour around town, leaving my bow for now. I thought I would be able to hunt when Chandler had grown. However, as soon as he grew, I had my second child, another boy. It was a decision I knew I had to make. I told Chandler to take my bow and explore, hunt, whatever he liked. A dying old man had given him gear similar to mine when he was younger, so he was well protected. My only wish was that he came home safely.
Joey grew but died shortly after while I was holding him. I was distraught, so I searched for my other son. He was too young to use the bow at the moment. Then I recalled a moment we had had when Chandler was little. I had asked him if he had a home marker saying to go north, and he said yes. We wondered where it went, and if we could find out one day. Now, I made up my mind to ask if he would accompany me to find out where it went, but he asked me first. I accepted, and we packed food and arrows in my case, and then set off. I had nobody to say good-bye to - my mother had committed suicide when I was young.
We travelled north for ages, stopping only to restock on food, and I took the bow with me. Chandler held a bowl of berries, which was more useful, but I couldn't part with my bow. Then, my third son was born. I had to choose him over the bow. I left the bow behind sadly, but I gained a wonderful son. I named him Ross and he came with us on our journey. I gave him my clothes but kept my backpack. Soon, I had to replace my arrows with food, as it grew scarce, but I had no bow to use them with any more.
There was a scary episode when Chandler ran off to find food and did not return for a long time, and Ross and I didn't know if he was alive or not. But he came back to us, and we set off again as a family. Things were happy and food was quite plentiful for many more years.
Then there was that fateful day when we came across a boar. It was the first boar I had ever seen, and I was quite happy. Until it attacked Chandler. He had a gaping hole in his stomach, and we had no resources to save him. Ross and I screamed "Nooo!", but Chandler said calmly, "It's ok.". He soothed us and told us to finish the journey, and his final words ended up being "You're welcome", in response to me thanking him for journeying with us.
After Chandler's death, Ross and I were alone. We travelled for a long time on our own, and I knew we were close because the home marker kept changing from north to north-west. We spoke little, but I was growing old, and I didn't have a lot of hunger any more. I really wanted to see the place we had been searching for all our lives, but I doubted I would. I told Ross to keep an eye out for me on the forums, and he said he would.
Soon after this, I was attacked by a rattlesnake. Ross was distraught again, but I tried to soothe him like Chandler had so bravely done. I told him I loved him and that I believed he could finish the journey alone. I wished him good luck and then died, leaving Ross alone and utterly lost in the world.

Ross, if you're here, tell me; did you finish the journey? I can see by the family tree that you died from a wild boar, which was very sad because Chandler went the same way, but did you get anywhere? Tell me in a story or just speak to me, I don't mind which. I know you said you don't have an account, but it would mean a lot if you replied.

Re: The Journey -- this is what you're looking for, Ross!

After my mother died I carried on my journey alone, I had promised her that I would carry on the journey in her and my brother's honour. For many years I had ran between north and north west- so many years, that I had grown from a young teenage boy to a middle aged man. I saw half eaten berry bushes- I must be close.

However whilst passing the desert I had been bitten by a snake. Determined to finish the journey I continued as fast as I could with hope that I will reach where the bell toll takes me - only to be finished off by a boar behind the tree.
How ironic that the two animals who murdered my family beat me down.
I'm sorry mother that I had failed to reach the end of my journey-  My time with you and my older brother was the last thought I had.
I thank you for bringing me into the world and the wonderful journey you brought me on.

Re: The Journey -- this is what you're looking for, Ross!

I'm very proud of you, son! It's one thing to join us on a journey, but to go on it alone shows true bravery. It's a shame we never reached our destination, but we had a great time with each other. It was one of the best games I've ever had. Thank you for trying to complete my journey, and I hope you had as good a time as me.
