I like to keep all babies, but not for morality. I do it cause it makes the game harder <3

I abandon babies that won't stop moving around. I told one of my babies "then die then" when he wouldn't stop running away from me and spamming F.

the thing is that ive noticed a lot more helpful players are born as boys. i always keep one boy and one girl for eve camps cos 99% of the time my girls r dumb af. the boys tend to progress our society a lot faster than the girls, especially when they start popping out kids. i only keep the smart ones tho, the dumb ones idc if its a girl or a boy i send it off to die all the same. being eve is hard enough without extra food being gone

Are you sure you weren't too old to breastfeed him? I've popped out babies right before hitting that age before, and some characters barely show a difference when they reach old age. Also, some babies aren't smart enough to spell out "O/L/D" or they might be too close to starvation to do so.

Well sometimes in bigger places I will raise some boys, they can smith and such, but they can't continue line survival.

And yes, I suicide as a boy usually, though sometimes I load too slow and mom is already keeping me; then I grow and try to help a bit before suiciding.

Yeah I can see why people do this but I think boys can still be quite useful. As a boy I can focus purely on my work and make up for the food I eat, I can also do stuff like rabbit hunting without losing out on babies or having to run back to have someone else nurse them.

I'll be making all the tools, hunting rabbits or building a sheepen while my sisters are struggling to get anything done while each of them are constantly popping out kids.
Boys may not advance your lineage but they certaintly can advanced your civ.

Personally I like to keep all babies, Natural selection will do the rest. Bad kids will die off while good kids will survive.

depends how early and how dumb are you

keeping first kid is generally good idea, he/she sees what you seen, the map, the struggle, if chooses to stay its a good sign

2nd to 5th kid, well, most often than not making a kiln and a few bowls asap is pretty hard, especially caring for first kid and finding location
their chances to starve or getting lost is high
i seen people running around in different biomes for 5 generations, no thanks
if you are an eve, your job is to make the basic tools and the bowls, if you arent capable of that, your kids will die anyway, a medium size biome can only give enough food for 3-4 persons, and those should be your daughters, so im all in favor of girls until you can make an axe
but then boys are superior. i think the most time i get pissed and start griefing was when people keeping daughters and 15 stupid girls run around without working and preaching how useful they are, in comparison, i had a mom with 7 sons, and last was a girl, we had adobe house, pen, all tools, carts and lot of stuff until gen 2 was too old

and yeah, player skill
with yahg i knew i will complete shovel so 2 ponds are enough for a few hours, and we choose an iron vein near a desert and even the branches were further. but we made the tools and some girls were still alive
some tools can compensate for a bad map, fast axe if you got no branches, shovel to upgrade well if have no extra ponds, carts to gather further
but if you are slow then just settle in simple places, desert-green-swamp corners

I wasn't old yet, it was my second out of I think 5 kids and I was nursing another child at the time with no issues and I went on to nurse two more. That particular baby was just an asshole.

I abandon a baby when i have a hungry baby in home. I must back as fast as posible to feed him.
