Just two or three weeks ago the game was at a stagnate 60 count for players... But this week its doubled in size. Does anyone know the cause? I feel like it had something to do with the tutorial update, maybe revived a lot of hope in the players who couldn't grasp the game good enough.

Sales have also been way up. Sold 119 units today, when a few weeks ago, we hit a low of 25 sold in one day. So... that's more than a 4-fold increase.
And yes, this has all been since the tutorial. Been a pretty steady climb since the tutorial came out.
Probably more of the people who bought the game understood it and liked it (instead of bouncing off) and then were more likely to tell their friends about it.
But also, maybe videos about the game are suddenly showing up in YouTube recommendation lists for some reason.

That's what brought me to the game on Sunday. I don't know how specifically it ended up in my YouTube recommendation though. My daughter plays a lot of Roboblox and Yandere Simulator type stuff and my son plays FPS. We get a lot of PUBG/Fortnite recommendations.
BTW, this game is fantastic.
