I honestly don't think I have been more frustrated with anything in this game than when people don't check if it's the only fire before putting a flat stone on top of it. Please, just check. It's not difficult to start a separate fire for a flat stone or water, but it is frustrating to stop what you're doing to go and start a fire for the sixth time because people just keep putting stuff on the only one.

I agree. Whenever i see someone do that i'm like bruh... then agin, always take care that the fire get some firewood so it always stay a strong fire, so no one can use it.
Firetender IS a job and must be taken seriously

I think that trying to start a separate fire for coals, just to have some jackass put firewood on it, is equally frustrating. It's like, "My guy, there's a large fire right over there. Why the fuck did you think we needed another?"
Believe you're right, but don't believe you can't be wrong.

I think a lot of people don't seem to know you can light kindling from a straight shaft either, little things that get missed easily when you start out I guess.

Also drives me nuts when they do it RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF FORGING!!!! I'm like GAAAAAH WTF!?
I'm fish, deal with it or don't, idgaf

I can forgive if it's in a newer camp where there's still fire-making tools readily available. A bit annoying, sure, but you teach the person who did it a lesson and can make another fairly quickly.
It's really bad when that happens in a large town though. Usually in big towns, there's been a griefer or simply newer folk who've cut down all the nearest maples/cedars/junipers so making a new fire is bothersome in its own right. Even worse if they manage to get all the trees in the grassland.
It literally takes no time at all to make a second fire from a pre-existing one. Even if you see just coals being left there, throwing kindling on it and running around to check if it's the last one doesn't hurt as bad either. It might waste a little time if you were wrong, but not as much as letting the only fire die out completely.

I agree on this. Come up to coals with tinder then some dick puts a stone on it... there goes my efficient eve smithing run...
I count winning as an eve as getting shovel hoe and axe made of steel...
Be kind, generous, and work together my potatoes.

Playing OHOL optimally is like cosplaying a cactus: stand still and don't waste the water.

People are just going to rearrange the letters into something racist or sexual anyway.

This is true and I agree 100% but the opposite is just as frustrating. When there’s a big fire going and no ones using it and so you want to use its coals for medical pads so you do but then someone gets mad at you because the fire was “just in case” or something stupid like that. And then they’re like “go make another fire now so it can sit and eat up kindling and hatchet uses and warm babies even though there’s desert two tiles away.” Then they complain about having to move an inch for a leaf and tinder, meanwhile we have barely any branches left and they have to go to all four corners of the OHOL earth just to find one.
