Right now wolves serve no real purpose, but if we could tame them and bring them back to our towns they could protect us against bears and boars and other wolves. Perhaps there's some sort of low-level beacon that we could place that would set a certain boundary the guard dogs can't cross, like an invisible fence? The puppies could be taken from mother wolves and tied to the beacon and when they grow up the beacon's boundary is set for them?
Or something like that!
I just think it would be cool to have a hunting dog lol

or you could 'train it' to kill murderers. That'd be a cool feature.

Or maybe an expansion on hunting.
In real life, dogs were first domesticated when humans were still hunter-gatherers and the only reason why we first did were because they helped us hunt down animals to eat. And for companionship, of course.
Maybe we could use dogs as trained animals as some sort of "Helpful Hunter" against game. (as well as guards, herders, and walking storage depending on how you train it)
Just imagine for a second, that dog domestication and hunting stuff exists in OHOL.
You could be out hunting for deer with spears with some friends. Suddenly, you come across a wolf den, With a dead deer out front. This could be an easy day, no killing, since there are no signs of habitation. One of you try to harvest some meat when, wolf puppies in the cave started crying out! Your friend runs back into the bushes, waiting for the mother to return, but nothing happens. A few more of your friends walk into the den to come back out alive and unharmed. The puppies were abandoned, but leaving them to die would be immoral, so you take them back to the camp. You raised the puppies with whatever knowledge you have of raising children, and they become loyal domestic wolves. Over time, and over many generations of wolves, they became the first dogs, hunting dogs for now; a Saluki breed. You could've set out traps. You could've fashioned snares to catch beavers. But, you found wild puppies, and you made them your hunting friend for life.
also to make it more sadder, dogs have lifespans and function similarly to players, except they dont get hungry as often
