North camp is great, can start over again but not be too far from friends. Few have come up to visit and couple born in north camp now. Great times.

Yeah the next step is to clear out the trees and boulders in the path of the road. Maybe even replace the road with planks some day.

The rough info you need to input is at the start of the post, you have to go into a couple game files and change a few things. Files located in the game folder

Go to your installation folder, find the settings folder and then the customServerAddress file, open it with notepad and change the 'localhost' line to the server address and save it.
Then find the useCustomServer file and change the 0 to a 1 and save the file. Open the game as usual, and you can use a fake email and key if you like, only the official servers force you to use the correct email and key.

Wow things are going downhill again. The griefer is killing again and people are trying to found towns far away from the main farm.

We need to try to stick together people!

Actually it worked out really well. We had a griefer who did NOTHING BUT over water and plant ALL of the carrots trying to get them all to seed. For at least 30 minutes non stop she did this while ignoring our pleas for her to stop. Eventually she says "What I'm helping" Then when we told her "No you're not" she pulled a knife and went on a murderous rampage.. By then Main-Town was in chaotic ruins, the farm a disastrous mess, and piles of bones littering the whole town like a checker board.

So five of us in the discord voice chat, after trying for a few generations to get rid of the 'overhelpful griefer', finally had enough of this woman murdering us. We geared up and set out for a distant location, Taking what we needed to start over, but not taking all of any one thing away from main-town.. We found a nice, resource rich, and empty space to build another safe haven for people to rotate to when the Griefertrolls strike with their bloodlust!

It has been an interesting 13 hours.. I should eat something irl..

Went to see the server yesterday, you guys were ready for Space Age! I was given a whole wool set as a baby. Unfortunately, the survival aspect was not much there when you have it this good in life.

I loved your server. I was a grave keeper at a village with sheep and a big carrot farm. I was moving dead bodies in a cart all the time making a huge grave site at the East in the snow, even becoming the king with the crown until I died of old age passing it on.

Hey server owner can you do a video on how to set up a server. I would love to know how. I'm a visual learner, reading text instructions often give me a headace. Also the instructions were not that great in the sticky post.

So there's a guy on the server griefing everyone with a knife. He had a blue hat. I blasted him with an arrow but he came back and did it again. ::sigh::

That means that prick is on THESE FORUMS (and game with like what <400 player so far) and intentionally added the custom server, just so he could troll. What a sad person. I guess that's what being a virgin in your 40's does to you.

Jokes on him though. I'm just gonna add PVE mode / and-or auto-grief banning to my fork of One Life. Not only will in ban you, it'll undo any murders you committed so your effort will literally be meaningless and have no impact on the world--just like your normal life!

For advanced mode, you could actually modify the data and remove the PVP transitions.

The complicated part about the solution you mention, is that griefers CAN actually PVE you to death. They don't have to murder you to kill you sadly.

We just gotta keep our weapons out of the wrong hands. The other day I was working on Northtown when someone with a knife killed everyone in the Main Town. This resulted in a sudden population boom with tons of babies saying that there was a griefer. Unfortunately, Northtown nearly ran out of food because our population had suddenly tripled.

Having everyone talking on discord was quite useful and it allowed us to keep knives out of randoms peoples hand.

I spent some time on the server yesterday as a confused wandering parasite trying to figure out basic crafting. This game's complicated.

Okay, shutting down the server to add an overeating prevention check and disable killing for now. I might re-enable killing in the future if the mechanics change slightly so it's not quite so instant and people have time to react to aggression. Should be back in an hour or so once everyone's died off so it can shut down cleanly and I've got it updated.

It's just a check that prevents eating if your food bar is full. The client will still make the animation since it's still trying to eat, but the food won't be consumed.

Yeah, I'd already done that but hadn't cleared the object cache last time I restarted the server. You just need to set deadlyDistance to 0 for the bow and arrow, and the knife (object IDs 152 and 560).
