Marriage is kinda fun actually. It adds a lot to the role playing.
But yet, such reservations- child-claiming from marriage could get sticky.
So here's an idea to just see how players treat the idea and then maybe further thoughts from there could be had on how to do it without the stickiness.
Basically- there needs to be some kind of jewelry- a necklace or anklet would honestly be preferred as it picks them out from the crowd for you without making them stand out. It can be made of gold or steel (maybe you have to throw a pick-axe at an ingot?)
Having a physical object that cannot be deteriorated like this may have enormous benefits- when an elder passes on the band before death to a child- it acts like a family heirloom and encourages another partnership to take place.
