How do wounds work?

I have a few questions. Numbered ones are what I'm most interested in.

When you aquire a wound, what causes your death?
Is it a timer counting down?
I heard one wound can be swapped with another.

1. Does swapping wounds reset your death timer?
2. Does getting the first step of treatment replenish or reset your death timer? (EX- pulling arrow out)

So if I get bit by a snake and then jump in front of a pig, I can get sewn up instead of needing anti-venom?

Correct. Only way to cure snake bites early game is to get stabbed by someone and patched up by another guy

same applies to arrow, when no fire you need to be stabbed
btw the last injury will be the cause of death or starving

as soon as you got sheep you should have a plan of getting sewed up
and people shouldnt take the needle, and should hide some pads, and tell someone you trust

so having a boar enclosed would be useful in some cases, explaining all this ingame gets you killed
