Something Odd Happened While Playing

I'm fairly new to the game, but I have read the tutorial and watched several helpful videos on how to play, I spawned in as an Eve and with me one baby showed, I raised her to childhood then we parted ways.

Shortly after I had another child, a boy. I picked him up and took him with me in search for food or civilization, as I was alone.

Shorty after carrying them I found an abandoned civilization where there was many items of clothing on the ground. So I put my child down and picked the clothing up to start to clothe them, just after I put a hat on him I noticed that I was nearly starving, I picked him up and started walking towards a berry bush to eat before going back. And while I had the child in my hands, a full set is clothing, backpack included is suddenly equipped on them. I stopped walking in shock for a second, knowing that babies can't equip their own gear, especially while being held by their mother. Shortly after a door opens on the house next to me, possibly an invisible player.

Is this possible at all? Could the invisible player put the whole set on them fast enough for me to not see each item placed on him separately?

Lag and desync dont worry its an issue right now everyone has although Jason sent out an email stating he has rolled back the server version.
