Tutorial Accessability

Why isn't the tutorial accessable from the main login page? When you log in, it automatically puts you in the game. New players have to play one game, die, then they can play the tutorial. Isn't it kind of odd to force new players into the whole game before they have a chance to go through the tutorial? Maybe this has been changed since I've started, and their first login spawns them in the tutorial, but this wasn't the case a couple months ago. Even if this is the case, if they exit the game and want to play the tutorial again, they still have to die in the real game.

I may be missing something obvious here, but isn't this a little odd?

Re: Tutorial Accessability

Pretty sure you're missing the fact that when someone first purchases the game, their first life will automatically be in the tutorial. Fairly sure that's how Jason made it work- I remember when it first came out, even those of us who've had the game for awhile were automatically thrown into the tutorial the life following the update.

Yes, you are "forced" to beat the tutorial as a new player (unless you muck in the Settings folder).

After that, it's accessible from the death screen only.

Trying to avoid too much clutter on the login screen.

There were a few days where I would login and suicide because I wanted to try something in the tutorial, or after dying in a normal game I'd leave the game open and minimised for hours in case I wanted to come back to the tutorial later without going through the login/suicide process.

On the tutorial itself, it would be really nice if it were D shaped so that the escape area is right below the start, with a way to shortcut the intro once you have reached the escape area for the first time... maybe a locked door with a key on the other side that sets a permanent local flag when you unlock it?

Re: Tutorial Accessability

Having to option to login to tutorial world would be a great way to check if your connection is good before having to risk messing up for somebody else just because you have the lags

Tutorials should always be easily accessible, Jason. It makes no sense to only make it accessible by death. People will want to play it more than once. It would not be "clutter" on the login screen. It is a necessity for new players.

Totally agree with this. People wind up playing once or twice, getting confused, then coming back LATER and wanting to do the tutorial again to try some of the things they saw in-game.  But... it's not there, and they didn't note the location when they died. Tutorial should be available on login.
