It really sucks to have a line wiped out by an all-male streak of the random number generator, or when the only girl suicides. Likewise an exponential explosion of girls can quickly drive a thriving line into starvation within 2 generations.
I'd like to put forward an RNG destreaker, which has successfully been implemented in other games where it was crucial that a 50% chance actually worked out at 50% in the short to mid term for every player, due to the very limited number of turns.
Odds start at 50% and you pick an offset amount for how heavily to destreak, say 20% for example.
For every child you have, the next child is 20% more likely to be the opposite gender, cumulative for each successive child so that a streak of the same gender becomes increasingly unlikely.
Starting from scratch: 50% x 30% x 10% = just 1.5% chance to have 3 in a row the same of either gender, and impossible to have 4 in a row unless you're already coming back from a streak of the opposite gender.
Sure this automatic balancing is not realistic, but neither is it realistic for a family to go extinct from having only boys or only girls as we do not live in isolation.
What do people think?

i think it only depends on server population
girls are heavy to bring in more people and boys come when server is full, then a drop again kills the families
but yeah sounds nice to me

I always thought it was more likely for boys to be born then girls. I have a lot of lives where I've only had boys but never only girls.

The game already tracks family trees, it should check if there are any other fertile girls alive and if there aren't any the next baby is a girl.

Yeah and also distribute a little more babies away from the greedy baby hugging large families and into the small single mother families. This ought to be done by proximity check and not familyline-check as some starter out families are offshots from bigger ones.

Yeah I gotta say, the game could be a bit smarter over the gender ratio & chance, giving a possibility to have clutch saves for lineages. It's quite unusual for a game to leave the odds strictly 50/50 as it rarely works without some destreaking: usually some situational favoring to one side or another gives players a sense of fairness and they feel like the chance is more 50/50 that way when in reality it is constantly changing.
There is something already implemented regarding the spawning gender odds as males start spawning when the servers are going down.
I do like how some women birth only males and some not, as that is realistic, but when it comes down to dying lineages, it just sucks.
I wish males would get something similar to Eves' spawning trick (dying at 60 with marker set). Feels bad man when you see that your lineage's Eve had died at 20 years and you worked for the place 60 years only to see it die to your nieces. The game is really, extremely harsh over "lost camps", gone just like that, leaving powerless and frustrated players behind.

One thing I want to add separately;
As the game is 60 minutes, you tend to get approx 6 kids per mother. These 6 could easily all be males, or five males and one girl who suicided, etc.
As this is a multiplayer game where the players have no power over their characters, it's very harsh to not favour the gender that can save the lineage in times of need. Yes it's PvE, and gender odds can be a part of it, but it does feel very punishing towards players who are powerless against it.
In real life, we would need both males and females. Now that women give virgin births, males are left as a "lesser being" when it comes to lineages and saving towns.
I am not suffering over the random chance and it has its sides (I know all lineages end anyways and nothing lasts forever), but I do think, due to the harshness of the game and new settlements, there could be a point to try and give more chances for the players over things they have no control over. I can't prevent suiciding daughters but I'd love to be given a chance for a new one as the time window to spawn more is so short for 50/50 odds.
As a cause, I'd imagine this favouring to cause more cities to rise as lineages had a higher survival chance. But even those cities would die if the Eve can't get back there.
I wish males could contribute more to the "spawning more kids cause"...

I have never had issues about baby booms during single mom games. They just tend to suicide even more often than in larger families, where chances of survival is more likely.
Besides, every player plays their live at maximum of 60 minutes, so within busy hours it might not be easy to fill up all the families with girls for multiple generations.
If you ever enter Pea (Helkama turns into random name) family, you need the lottery ticket picked up. My baby names given can be absolutely random.
