JASON, PLEASE OFFICIALLY DOUBLE THE VIEW DISTANCE!!!!
The current default view is 7hx11w (three tiles above and below you and five tiles to either side).
If you consider each tile one meter square = about 3.3 feet, then you can only see 10 feet away.
x2 brings this up to 20 feet which makes sense as proper 20/20 vision.
Therefore double the current distance should be the new realistic default visual distance.

I understand Jason not wanting to make it part of the main game, popping at screen edges can't be in the default client even if it isn't a big deal.
But the game really is terrible without it once you're used to it.
A nice compromise would be for Jason to expose a few more variables in ini files to allow anyone to modify it easily in a notepad without having to first install a linux VM and compile it themselves.
That way, once you've modded game files you are "officially unsupported" so popping becomes acceptable.
