How come people die in towns with plenty of food.

For me I'm basically guaranteed to live to old age in a big town. Unless murdered or lagging which dosn't happen too often.

I was in a town with literally boxes full of pies and a large berry farm. Yet plenty people still died as children or in there 20s. So many children that I raise tell me ty before running off and dying a few years later. You'd think most people would be able to live to old age in cities. Well I guess big cities still have more old age deaths then smaller villages.

Doesn’t make much sense to me either, all I can think of is
1. New players.
2. AFK players.
3. Players who want to suicide but only do it when they have hair (I know, it’s weird, but I’ve had a lot of these people as my kids.)

Re: How come people die in towns with plenty of food.

New players will die of all sorts of different reasons. Whether it be boredom, not recognizing food sources, or being ignorant  of what is available. I personally always live to old age unless I decide to die off for whatever reason. Some new people don't understand kraut/stew, some people just start to panic when they hear the pings, or people try to stretch food  bonus and die because of it.

I think dying of starvation in a packed town is overestimating skill or just forgetting to eat most of the time instead of trying to chain yum.

For me it's mostly because I'm lagging so hard on my old laptop, that it takes me ages to go from A to berry bush.

Some people maybe got some stuff that came up and they needed to leave. Or they ate shrooms and didn't know were the berries where. Or they forgot ? So many reasons.

Re: How come people die in towns with plenty of food.

i never starve, like ever
only when i choose to and when is like green biome too many, cant temp run and no food anywhere in 100 tile radius

yeah they just dont recognize sauerkraut or other food

i can see newbies have trouble with a combination of unprepared runs and lag but mostly just unprepared
that they run with no food in hand and starve while stressing or talking

I wish I could say that, I have played for a good while, but still die stupid deaths to forgetting about food.

Re: How come people die in towns with plenty of food.

For me it is combination of lag and under estimating how quick my pips will drop.

I've put in a bug report / feature request for client side hunger prediction; I think maybe being in Australia and having higher than average latency is what causes me to sometimes get less than a second between the first ding and starving.

It really sucks to starve in the middle of the eating animation with a pack full of food.

Connection problems are more common than you may think. Whether it is actual disconnect or lag that prevents eating, it happens to people all the time. Lag is more deadly when you are a kid too, as the food bar is shorter. Lag is even worse in big cities, so kids will die even with a lot of food around.

New players don't know all food sources or wander away too far from them. Experienced players bez tunnel vision, start project and forget to eat.

Re: How come people die in towns with plenty of food.

Im using a mobile internet myself, few times a day the connection breaks for a minute and gets up, but at that time you have died from disconnect, its the main reason for death in prospering citys. Also nomad runs from towns when the food gets bit low introduce you to the greateness of SNEK and boaaaaar!/wolf snipes.

BTW sharp stone op. 60 years of life doesn't require you to craft anything else. Always carry one with you.
