Let's lay some love down on Jason

So on these forums, Jason eats a lot of our crap!

Let's lay some love and encouragement down on Jason. We all like to play his game, and we're all here because of it!

Not only does Jason work on updating the game, he also provides support for tech issues in the game!

If you think about how many people honestly don't give a shit about you in life-- and how rare it is for people to actually give a shit-- Jason is like this dude who's giving us hours of his life, one with a wife and kids, to give us something that he hopes will bring us some sense of joy- among likely many other things. Jason's obviously a massive lover at heart.

So, let's take a break from remarking on our annoyances in the game, and list something you enjoy or an instance in the game's development in which you admire and/or respect Jason for.

I love the geese. I love the poop egg goslings. I love the head choppy stump. I love the attention to detail. Running about with their heads cut off. The floppy feet when you put them down. I love omelettes. I love their cute little honk when you pull a feather and the swimming around for a bit. There is so much to geese. Wonderful. Thank you!

Re: Let's lay some love down on Jason

It's a unique game, most of todays games are microwaved old games with a few added spices and served as new, but this game is different from all the other ones i've seen before.

The art, the sound effects, the engine everything is all handmade by jason that's really impressive (video of sheep being added to the game : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27cztry-gJQ )

@helloworld pine panels are used to flex, they will probably never be cheap lol

Re: Let's lay some love down on Jason

@Dodge There are many items or things you can make that are difficult, but i doubt the intended use of pine panel is to flex (in a game about Civ and parenting). Pine panel became over price due to change in milkweed, but was never updated to be within current meta (balancing issue). Honestly it doesn't even have to be pine panel. I just want a tier 1 wall (cheap easy to build, but last short time).
Cause with a tier 1 wall, we can build game mechanic around shelter (which is my goal desire here).

Yikes. The pine panel discussion has a bustling separate thread for it.

As for the appreciation,
This game has that special social symbolic element to it, like many of Jason's games, but with an mmorpg foundation. His games are so touching that he literally got an art museum exhibit dedicated to one.

My biggest awe moment was looking over the heat mechanics code and seeing he implemented a Partial Differential Equation (2-3 years of college calculus) solver to numerically calculate your temperature every single time you move!

Re: Let's lay some love down on Jason

Thank you, everyone!

Betame, looking through that heat code right now, I laughed when I saw this very important variable:

float buttWeight = 0.2;

Ahh thank you Jason. I love all the sound effects so much! I've probably talked about them to all of my immediate family members and friends and made them listen to them at least once. They're so good!

I appreciate all the work that you do for the game, BS you put up with and it's amazing how fast you can push out updates and fixes. lol

Re: Let's lay some love down on Jason

The ironic thing is there would not be NEARLY as much request on the forums to change things if Jason did not reply to said complaints, because people are only complaining because they know they are being heard by the creator himself.

This has allowed us to form a much more knit together fan-base on the forums, as we all feel heard and listened, because Jason seems to check EVERY forum post.  Heck, I bet he's even checking this one;)

Exactly- but i also worry that it's too much complaining any not enough appreciation to counter act that. There's only so much abuse you can take until you care less or just start to ignore it. I don't know where Jason is in his head, but I know for sure in life it's better to consider someone else's feelings than to sit and consider what you're lacking or think you are missing.
