I keep spawning as an eve or kid of an eve, and all the berry bushes turn into hatchets when I pick a berry, can anyone explain?

Have the same problem ^^
Where you Eve Echard ?
Update : It only shows you a hatchet but it stays a berry bush. You can continue to pick berries and after you picked two or three, it will go back into a berry bush with only one berry missing.
All the berries will disappear once you've picked two berries out of the magic berry bush.

Yes there is something currently wrong with the update, hopefully Jason will read the issue reports and fix the issue in the code.

Yeah, I was Eve Echard, I guess the bushes have become sentient and are ending us all, and somehow they learned how to change form into a hatchet.

When I pick beans it spawns a bowl of green beans. Adding another bean it turns into a squash plant

a half eaten goose becomes a mouflon that you can ride!

A bowl of butter was wandering around a pen and I butchered a sheep that then proceeded to drop meat as its bones slid about the pen.

The alchemy update is his best update to date. Some of my favorite transmutations:
Half eaten goose - Mouflon
Bowl of sterile pads - Buffalo
stack of baskets - Semi tame wolf
Full compost pile - Bear? (Not sure what bear is atm.)
Multiple kindling - Category iron pile.
Piglet - Boar
Calf - Walking bowl of butter
Sheep - Walking butchered sheep.
Butchered sheep (1x meat removed) - Fed mouflon lamb
2x meat removed - Sheep with lamb
3x meat removed - Sheep
Poking a penguin - Sliding monolith.
If you find any other fun transmutations make sure you list them so others can join the fun.
fug it’s Tarr.

How does Jason not find this stuff??? In all seriousness, I am legit wondering.

Seems every weekend it is some new bug or exploit in the update followed by a hotfix or two.
Maybe an opt-in beta and a stable release for the masses would be good... once there are more players.

This is by far the worst bug yet, most other ones have been mass destruction devices, but this ruins the game as a whole.

Agreed. I don't understand why people are trying to play.
I get a headache trying to keep track of what is what, and on top of that I doubt everything I see.

Sorry, this has been fixed now.
Funny story.
I was testing Steam depot building server-side. Depots are the way Steam handles pieces of content for a game. I was eventually going to automate the process, so I was running the depot build server-side from the same place that live content is usually built and stored for diffing.
I got it all working---stuff was uploading to steam nicely, and it was even automating!
Okay, check that off the list.
Now time to push out the weekly data diff to clients.
As far as I was aware, the automated script that does this went to work, and was going to do its job just like it has done 100+ times in the past. I went off to see a play with my kids for the evening.
Turns out that the manual data directory I created when testing Steam was in the way. Even worse, it had slightly old data in it.
So the diff script ran, but was missing some files because it used the in-the-way-directory.
Servers, on the other hand, pulled the latest data from github with no problem. They had a few files that the clients didn't have.
And this messes up the offsets for all of the auto-generated objects client-side. Meaning that a used berry bush will instead look like a used ax or whatever.
But the saving grace here is that this was just a client-side display problem. Nothing in the world was actually malfunctioning or ruined on the map.
Once I posted a corrected client data diff with the missing files included, everything went back to normal.
In previous versions of this issue, it was triggered server-side when servers did not shut down cleanly before an update. Then generated objects were left in the map, and got re-mapped after the update to other objects, screwing things up in those spots permanently.
How does Jason not see this stuff?
Well, it's an automated update process that almost always just works.
The content works fine on my end before I push it out. I test it extensively.
BUT... when something goes wrong with the automated update process in a non-fatal way that doesn't cause that process to halt, an ill-formed update goes out to clients. This almost never happens, but when it does, chaos ensues.
As for the frequent Friday or Saturday hot-fixes.... well, those are just oversights on my part. I test everything, and try to think of corner cases, but I'm only one person, and I don't think of everything.
Oh, dogs don't die? They should! Also, time-based stuff is hard to test extensively (like dogs that die in 20 minutes, on average), because it takes.... time.

Thank you. I support you with said update (which was kinda funny) and hope this never happens again, but at least i’ll understand why if it does:)

When I'm old and sitting by the fire, eating my berries and handing my clothing and tools off to the younguns, I'll enjoy telling them about the time the gods lost their minds, and a pile of compost looked like a buffalo.

Oh no! I missed it!
It brings back memories for me though. I remember times when my game broke and full berry bushes turned into seeding carrots once a berry was picked. Calves were walking bowls of butter and people were carrying around stone roads in their backpacks. I thought that maybe I was fed a shroom or something before the game loaded but my mom denied it and it continued to my next two lives. Good times. I had to reinstall my game to fix the problem. It's happened to me twice now. This was before I knew how to report things to Jason though, so I'll make sure to do that next time it happens.
