I think Eve thought because you are veteran, you would understand why to be abandoned. Quite cruel considering that you could've been lifesaving personality for her.

She wasn't, I was her first kid, she wasn't picking anything up and she had to run for quite a while to abandon me

Vet is short for “veteran”. In real life, a veteran is someone who used to be in the military. In gaming terms, it means an experienced player.
