Hey guys,
first of all, sorry for my bad englisch, im from Germany.
I saw this amazing Game on YT and immediately bought it.
First I even cant Open the Self-Extrector cause my Firewall was blocking it. This is a command problem for me so i just allowed the File in my Firewall.
After I extract the File a Folder appears, I went in the Folder and startet OneLife.exe but Windows Defender blocked and delet it asap.
Sooo, why is that happend? Why does my Windows thinks its a Trojan?
MfG

it's a false positive. You can safely ignore it.

Well, i hope so. I bought and download it on the original Webside... I'm just kinda shocked,

The game sourcecode is available for everyone to see, if there was something nasty in it, it would have been found by now. The Windows executable just isn't signed so it's just being over protective.

Maybe that what is what truly made this game innovative; the fact that it was a virus the whole time and all the money in all of our bank accounts is slowly being siphoned away!

Hi, all. I got the same thing. W7, MS Security Essentials, reports "Trojan:Win32/Critet.BS" in onelife.exe. VirusTotal reports only 1/67 so it's most probably fine... but this is literally the only entry about the 'virus' in the forums, and it makes me wonder if it's something new? If there were heaps of posts about it over time and heaps of "yep, it actually worked fine" replies, then fine. But...
It's likely just an update to the definitions for MS that generates this false positive, but just in case there's been an infection at the download source (http://download4.onehouronelife.com/dow … indows.exe), I think I'll just pause for a bit.. I've emailed Jason (or his team perhaps?). Not really sure what else to do for now...

You can grab the source code from Github and compile the .exe file yourself if you are afraid of the website being compromised. This game is open source, which means everyone can look at the game code and verify that it works, as well as create their own binaries/executable files for their operating system by themselves.

Honestly, it is better to be safe than sorry at the moment.
This cirtet.bs virus has only appeared in the past few days, and it is unknown what transmits it. Your security programs are likely picking up false positives, but there is an ever so slim chance that somehow this virus got embedded with the most recent update. I am not a computer expert, so I cannot say for sure.

I'm not techy enough for that. I just want to pay and play.

Virus scanners are a nightmare for software developers. There are always false positives, and the only way to avoid them is to employ the same tricks that virus writers use to get around scanners: spend a lot of time modifying the program until the detection goes away.
All virus scanners are faulty, so to figure out whether a piece of sofware is actually malicious, upload it (exe or zip file) to https://www.virustotal.com/ which will run the file through a large set of scanner.
If only a couple scanners detect anything, or if scanners report some kind of "generic" threat instead of a real trojan, then they're almost certainly wrong.
If your virus scanner gives a false positive on any program, please report it to the developer of the scanner, if possible.

Jason got back to me and said it was fine. Trying it now. I'll come back and post if there's any problems.
