So I've been told by several different mothers that I shouldn't pick the last berry from bush or it won't regenerate. I've also seen it mentioned on YouTube videos of the game. The thing is, this is simply not true. What you don't want to do is pick the last berry from *domestic* bush without watering it because it will die. It'll never regenerate on it's own whether you pick the last berry or not. Wild bushes do regenerate on their own, and picking the last berry from them doesn't interrupt that. The game is confusing enough on it's own, can we please stop spreading falsehoods and making it even more confusing?

Which is more confusing: Never pick the last berry on a bush, or never pick the last berry on a *domestic* bush, which, by all accounts, looks identical to a wild bush? I think an easy-to-follow axiom makes sense if it saves domestic bushes. As players gain experience, they'll come to know the difference.

Denriguez your missing the point of his post, if you pick a domestic berry bush down to one berry it will not grow any more, period! You must pick it and water to get more berries.

Oh! I didn't know this. Thanks for the correction!

Good to know, I had wondered about this.

It'd be an interesting mechanic if it worked this way domestic bushes constanly regrow like wild until you take the last berry away, which is done when getting a bowl of berries. So it wouldn't mess you up as much if someone just ate a couple berries off your domestic bush.

Yeah the differences between wild and domestic bushes seems unnecessarily confusing, and is likely where this myth came from.

Yeah spread the word not to touch the berries on a DOMESTIC unless you are responsible for the job of creating compost, and if you have that job, always re-water the bush after filling your bowl.

There is one weak rationale behind not eating the last berry, of course.
If I have the option between eating the last berry on one bush, or the second to last on an other, I leave the last berry, so the hourling after me may save his life.
It is important to keep this a soft rule, though, because if we hold it to be strongly bad to eat the last berry, then by induction it is bad to eat the second to last, and in the end noone can eat berries
You could also argue that the hourling behind you should have brought a snack, and by the all-conquering Darwin rule, deserves the consequences, but I think this is a little harsh.

Or you could eat the last one and then water it so it regrows all its berries, then the next person can come along and have a whole bush....... please just pick the berry and water the damn thing.

Exactly leaving the bush to never produce again is a bigger waste of a square than signs
Be strong.
