Natural disasters

I have been thinking about ideas to create more teamwork and above all, so that when we are born in a "finished" city we always have tasks to do

I've always thought that Jason's "apocalypse" update was a very good idea so that we do not settle in fully built cities and have nothing better to do than kill each other ... the problem of the idea of the apocalypse was according to my thinking that was very radical

I have thought that if we have small natural disasters that destroy only small parts of the city or that generate different problems for the people of the city, maybe the city will never become boring.

I propose these ideas so you can see what I was thinking:

FLOODING (REPENTINAS)
imagine that suddenly you are walking through a swampy land and you start sinking little by little on the ground, with this idea I want the character to ask for help and that someone nearby can help him with ropes or with a branch
INUNDACIONES.jpg

FOREST FIRES
The trees and anything wooden begins to burn and you need all the people of the town to extinguish the flames with bowls of water
INCENDIOS_FORESTALES.jpg

TWISTER
A great swirl of wind that disorganizes or destroys parts of the city, raises floors and roads, and if the babies and children are not in the arms of their mothers fly off and die (or end up far from the city)
HURACAN.jpg

EARTHQUAKES
Suddenly the screen begins to shake for a few seconds and at the end we have cracks in some parts of the map that we can not trespass if we do not build a bridge
GRIETA.jpg

I hope you like the ideas ... as I told you, my intention is to create more teamwork and that big cities do not become boring when everything is done

Re: Natural disasters

better than wiping the map entirely
although if one of these happened to an eve camp then thats the lineage pretty much over
also twisters picking up bbys is kinda bad if you have like 3 bbs and you can only hold one

Crop blights, to punish over-reliance on a single food source.

What about locusts? They could move like any other animal and destroy the crop they land on, similar to sheep eating carrots. Their movement speed and distance should be low though, to help prevent plague-level destruction.

It would definitely make things more interesting.

My initial idea was not to affect the food, I just want to create emergency situations that force people to do collaborative tasks, and create an atmosphere of insecurity even if we live in a city with everything within our reach

I want to create stories of heroes that rescue babies, or women from water, fire, earthquakes or tornadoes

I want to create a communication between the people of a city to build a bridge to save a crack from an earthquake

or that the task of creating a house has more value, since with it we can take refuge from a tornado

I do not want to affect the food, dangerous situations can be created without starving the village

I like this one. I usually don't roleplay but I always remove skeletons from bakery and say it isn't very sanitary to have dead bodies in kitchen.

Re: Natural disasters

These would be so much fun! Cities do become pretty boring at the moment when all the jobs are already filled.

I consider that it is similar to the dynamic event of a bear, boar, wolf or a seal that is incorporated into its ice hole ...
Perhaps the most difficult to execute would be flash floods and the rescue of players in trouble ... or that of diseases and rats ...
anyway I am a great ignoramus of programming ....

Re: Natural disasters

Jason, have you ever considered implementing something similar to what I said long ago in this post?
I think it would largely eliminate the boring lives of big cities and create collaboration situations between players ...
With these disasters it would not be necessary to restart the arc every week

Sorry for refloating a post from 1 year ago, but I think this makes more sense to implement it now than a year ago

Re: Natural disasters

dealing with natural disasters might be a great way to be entertained on big cities but i guess it would be too much of a pain if you ar starting your village.

Maybe natural disasters could start to trigger once the arc is x years old?

Re: Natural disasters

In tropico you had natural disasters when:
-too much farming degraded the soil so you got drough.
-low housing quality, increasing Caribbean happynesss, so basically earthquakes destroyed your old buildings, which you could modernize.
-fires wer coming when yo uhad low crime safety i think.

I mean a tornado could rip off floors and structures which are long there (walls would prevent that)
Same for fences and other stuff, which might force you to make a new and bigger pen.

Diseases are good idea, just burn corpses maybe? or dig them to prevent the spread, or at leas t take them further away.
