So basically, things went very wrong for my computer and I had no choice but to format it, twice actually, anyway the point is I haven't been able to play OHOL since just before the update with the paint, I have been keeping up with the news so I have a basic idea of what has been added but I don't know the details of how they all work, and how to do things in them right, I am very close to being able to play this game again so can anyone explain, in detail, what has been added?
Specifically, I need to know what new things there are to craft, how to craft them and what they do, I need to know about any new dangers there are (if any) and generally how the new things work so that I don't go back in looking like a noob.

The biggest update would be the jungle biome. The jungle biome is a great place with warm temperature just right and LOTS of bananas. Be warned though, there are mosquitos in the jungles and they give you yellow fever. Yellow fever makes it so you drop whatever it is you're holding and can't pick anything back up. Your temperature begins to rise dramatically and thereby rapidly draining your food bars, which has also been cut in half by the yellow fever. In order to survive yelllow fever, you need someone to help feed you. Although, if you can make it to a cold biome to counteract the feverish heat, you can outlast the fever on your own with a few food bars remaining and rush to get food as soon as it passed.
Hope this helps!
EDIT: Crafting wise, nothing immediately comes to mind. I just hoped back into this game a few days ago after a 2 month hiatus so not too much in regards to crafting survival stuff has changed. There are turkeys now.

As far as crafting goes, you can see what has been changed in each update here:

The only major crafting change is that now we can make rubber tires for carts using rubber trees, palm oil, and sulfur springs. It is used to add tires to carts, which makes the cart hold two more items and last ten hours longer, but can’t be attached to a horse. Also, if the tires are replaced before the cart decays, it can potentially last forever
If you like rp’ing, we also can make playing cards and dice for gambling. Except for a few “casinos” right after it was introduced, haven’t seen it much.
If you want details, OneTech is the place to go.

The real biggest chance is the noobpocalypse. You now spawn madly, but most of your babies will run from you, poke bears, eat a berry every time they miss 1 pip of hunger, be unable to maintain so much as a berry patch, and be unaware of how to make any food that isn't a berry.
Iron is painfully scarce, and sometimes wasted by new smiths trying to learn.
On the plus side, we now have huge piles of jungle food in the form of bananas in the new biome, countered by helpful healing mosquitos, whos bite makes your temperature soar, and temporarily halves your food bar, but cures all other wounds and ailments.

bananas are over as they do no longer respawn at all, only useful at the very first settlement start.
I've already seen the change in meta. Before settlement on jungle edge were very common, now they are build far away again mostly on swamp/desert edges.
