Are penguins ever going to get a use?

I have been playing the game for a long time now and it seems that since the beginning penguins just sorta...stand there and don't really do anything, is that ever going to change?

they do have use. When they jump into an ice hole the ice hole produces more fish

I like to have some cute nature that doesn't necessarily need to be turn into products.

I don't disagree that we should exploit penguins too but i'm honestly more concerned with pigs and dogs doing nothing useful.
